@MightyBaozi didn’t say that it wouldn’t cost money, he is saying that Germany independently made their own radar with Spain. Why would they develop a radar at the same time as the Mk2 and then switch to the Mk2? They have already integrated the Mk1, use the Mk1 and there is no point in switching when it works for them and they already have all of the logistics.

About a year or so ago, it sounded like Germany was contemplating buying a dozen or so Mk2s for their EKs as the MK2 does handle EW a bit better.
But more recent news is that they will be replacing parts of the DASS with SAAB’s AREXIS pod and doing some upgrades to the Mk1. So in the long run, Germany might be a little stronger with the Mk1+AREXIS combo vs Britain and Italys Mk2
They don’t need to buy it for it to be in game.
So why would they get it if they dont own it or arent planning on buying it?

Because its compatible. That’s all that matters in game. Why would Germany get something that isn’t on their service Eurofighters then?
Germany has tested it and funded it. The same as the Iranian f14 having r27R they just tested it (it didnt work) but it was enough for gaijin to give it to them

So germany should get MK2 then since it should be compatible

They recently (November) had a parlimentary thing on it.
The mentioned Defence Investment Plan from 2025 doesnt mention the Typhoon upgrades anywhere and only discussions regarding acquiring additional Typhoons instead of F-35s and Retiring T1 Typhoons.
So we do not know yet what is planned for Britain P4E upgrades at this time. Might be one next year? (Im actually not sure how these SDRs really work :D )
This might include other upgrades not being done by Germany like Striker II or Expanded CM loads. I have yet to see anything regarding Germanys plan to buy Striker II (though I havent looked either)
Also in that same paper. they clearly state that the four nations will agree on the final capability package.
