How do you aim in Navy Arcade now?

Here;s the thing.
They openly admitted they DESTROYED the aiming system because bad players could not figure it out so that was an open book nerf on us good players.

Now they are openly admitting they are nerfing damage control.

Why wouldn’t they nerf shot accuracy on suspected lobby terrorist?
And randomization to shots based on skill?

I think many games are doing it now because it helps keep bad players in the game longer and makes them more likely to pay.

Lag is connection - not your computer - teh best computer in the world can have lag if there’s a slow path across the 'net

Confirmation bias

They changed it - they didn’t “destroy” anything - the current system works exactly the same as the previous one except where you point your guns changed - and it is more realistic at least for large ships - gunnery directors point at the target - not at a spot somewhere away from it

why did this change only affect arcade then?

How tf should I know - I’m not a software engineer or one of the developers!!

none of which alters the FACT that this better replicates how real ships aimed better than the previous system that so many are crying over.

it also dumbs down gameplay really badly

Because aiming at an actual ship is so much dumber than aiming at a green circle??

Arrant nonsense.

LOL this guy trying to explain lag.
I said I DO NOT HAVE LAG AND my computer is overkill. 2 statements.
I worked a career in tech support and even for massive ISP. I know what lag is which is why I can confidently state I do not have lag.
I keep not one but TWO CMD Prompts pinging 2 sites at all times open on my second monitor forever and always they start up with automatically with a Windows batch script. Who wouldn’t do that?

They dumbed it down but also added randomization so it is harder to actually control your shots/pin point when you’re being cheated.

In the old system if I fired on target and my shots did something other than what I did, I would know. In the new system it is all a gamble.

UNDER OVER STRADDLE OVER UNDER STRADDLE x15 ASSIST!

I’m not going to argue with anyone defending this or denying some of us are having real problems not on our end.

Part of the issue is dispersion.

Shell dispersion is notably worse post leviathans, not to mention the increased shell arcs likely contribute to this due to increased flight distance.

The aiming is [really] hit or miss since now you can aim high or low when clicking on an enemy ship. Aim too low and you’re just gonna straddle, same as aiming too high. It’s annoying because the AI controlling your gunners’ aim just [does not] go where you’re aiming sometimes.

It should be noted that past 13km, you’re probably not hitting a damn thing in a CL at 5.3. at higher battle ratings you can easily make 15 to 18km shots but in my experience, 13km for most ships pre 6.0 is highly unlikely.

I have the same problem. That’s why I stopped playing arcades and started playing realistic battles. But here the problem is the same as in arcade battles. 360 shots and 230 hits and only 2580 damage. Another game 60 shots and 50 hits and 10000 damage. I see the shots hitting the ship directly on the ammunition and nothing happens and it’s been going on for two months. I started shooting only in the middle of the ships and I’m waiting to see what the RNG will do. I loved naval battles but they’ve been completely unplayable for two months and on top of that there are only absolutely lobotomized maps on battleships. And how is the damage determined? I put an ammorack and I get 2200dmg. If I shoot it at the boiler room or somewhere else, for example, in 10 hits I get 180dmg and it burns and has a hole in the hull. Then after the new update there’s a MEGA BUG with 2000 and 1000lbs bombs. I drop 2000lbs of bombs on Moffett and nothing happens. Only the boiler room is destroyed, why? What else did Gaijin change? Can’t I sink ships with a plane anymore? The new update is total garbage!

And yet another reason why the aiming change to Naval Arcade was/is a terrible idea:

It’s not a terrible idea.

Just because something is easily automated does not mean it shouldn’t be added.

Bombers require a very simple set of instruction to play. Fly to target, press spacebar, go home. Should we remove bombers too?

One may argue TWS and ARHs make botting easier because the user don’t need to aim accurately. Should we remove modern jets too?

You are comparing apples to oranges.

Hammering mags pre leviathans was a dice roll as well. This didn’t magically change.

Months later and I am still convinced if others are not having this issue there are silent nerfs.

I even have a new computer which is double overkill lol.
i7 Ultra 64GB RAM and a 5070 12GB

So many shells vanish into ships.
The ones that do hit are like 1% damage to nothing over and over.
I can hammer a ship for 3-5 minutes straight with a 1% here and there and POOF a bot one shots them. I get zero reward.
What is really going on?

I still can’t figure out how to shoot airplanes.
Do I am on them ahead of them, what?
Sometimes it is perfect other times it is way off.

If it is the server, why has it not been fixed?

What ship are you using, what shells and against what and at what range?

Any.
Myoko, RN Pola, Coastals, Murmansk, Kerch, Strausberg, just naval in general.
It is so discouraging.

Myoko’s advantage is her Type 93s but they’re on pretty bad angles (full broadside needed to actually use 'em) but she’s pretty damn dangerous in general against other cruisers. She’s fairly squishy despite the pretty THICC broadside. Sadly, the AP penetration at range is pretty painful at 116mm at 15km

It’s happening to me too!

I do not know what is screwed up about Arcade but it is very obviously screwed up. Simple point: If I am playing very well and suddenly I suck with no change on my side but a new War Thunder update just pushed, I have to assume the update did something. I was playing when we had to calculate our own lead. Then they took that away and you had to aim at the ship. I learned to adapt to both. Now, something is wrong but no one is saying what the fix is telling me there is no fix, therefore, it is broke.

Case in point. I just fought a blue water navy battle using light cruisers. Sometimes my shells were hitting. Sometimes, my main armament was hitting but my secondary armament was leading the target by 2 ship lengths as evidenced by the shell splashes. This wasn’t shell dispersal. ALL my secondaries hit in a concentrated cluster well clear of the target. But sometimes, my secondaries lagged behind the target by 2 ship lengths. Mains are hitting but secondaries are not and not even consistently.

In Coastal naval battles, I have watched my tracers and tracked them on target. Even with this severely wonky targeting, I have been able to consistently land in the top 4 but sometimes I need to lead the target by 2 ship lengths when I am so close I can’t see the target in zoom because it overfills the view. I am at knife-fighting distances and sometimes need to lead or lag the target by 2 full boat lengths? Might make sense at a mile or two but at distances inside 50 meters, that is just asinine!

Regardless, it is broke and it needs to be fixed. Apparently, it has been broken now for approaching a year and they haven’t fixed it. Is this yet another case of Gaijin denying it is broken and claiming it is an unannounced feature? Again?

It is not you. The aiming in Naval Arcade got EVEN MORE massively screwed up recently:

I would recommend reading/using the thread I quoted from above. It is the biggest and most active “Naval Issues” thread. Direct link to the most recent reply on that thread: Naval mode is finally dead - #2535 by Nostalgistic
