How are they actually going to balance the F-117

It will pick them up. Just not as far out as it can see a “normal” airplane.

Thats all “stealth” gets you. It reduces the range at which a radar can get enough of a return to filter you out of the background noise, and makes it more difficult to maintain a track/solution on you.

That’s exactly how the 1999 shoot down occurred. At low enough frequency and close enough range they could “see” the F117, and knew where it was going to operating so they laid a trap.

In game, the easiest way to model it is to 1/2,-1/4, or 1/3 the range at which whatever system can engage it.

It will also be useless at 8.7 where they have it on dev, it’s not stealthy whatsoever, 9L locks it at 5km front aspect which is no different than a F14B on full burner.
Genuinely hilarious considering any IR lock is an instant death sentence.

Oh your telling me when Gaijin said it will have an reduced IR signature it doesn’t? Well it is 1st version of the dev server I am certain they won’t force this update out before fix everything wrong like the last one.

it is still in service, just not with the Air Force. Public knowledge is at least 3 are still operating for an alphabet soup agency

What type of radar did the Iraqis have in Baghdad?

If the stealth ability of the F-117 is truly as bad as it is modeled in WT, how did they manage to circle directly above the city without being accurately engaged and destroyed?

From the limited testing I have done in custom battles, it seems the stealth is hmmm kinda OK-ish in the frontal aspect, but absolutely awful in rear aspect. So how then do you circle and still remain undetected?

Oh, I’m definetly going to play this thing

Are the thermals going to be good?

Its a shame I play Britain. Hunting the horde of F-117s in the Sea-Vixen would have been fun

Just bring Swift F.7

(realised I didnt specifiy i meant in Sim)

US and Britain are always queued together. These are going to be really common in Sim

7.7 to 9.7 would be hellhole if you have US as teammates lol

In Sim at least, it will be fine, barely anyone plays the bracket anyway :D

Given the current missile models, my money is still on the F117 unfortunately

if the Red Tops can lock, then they are perfectly usable, especially if you come up behind a F-117 That has no idea you are even there. They are just bad in a dogfight.

also, they are designed to lock onto sub-sonic jets and even props in all-aspect, even with IR reducing things the F-117 is probably hot enough for a lock most of the time

It is played!

Mostly by bombers.

So many bloody bombers.

… That all leave if you fly out a fighter and start shooting them.
(experience so far with the F2H2 and F86A5)

9/10 I go to play the Javelin or Sea Vixen, there is no lobbies at all. So I may just be getting unlucky. But yeah, hunting Tu-4s is fun. Until they rage quit. Though them calling me a noob for using a missile instead of guns on the Sea Vixen is always funny

I mean sure if you catch someone complete unaware just about anything works.

But the number of times I’ve seen guys dive away and out accelerate red tops with the Sea Vixen has left me very disappointed, especially since they should have atleast some limited all aspect capability.

True, but the advantagte of Sim is that most are unawares usually and you can set up good intercepts with the radar.

Also, Red tops should have full all-aspect, easily able to lock onto a sub-sonic aircraft at 3.5km.
