From a brief testing in the testing range, it appears that hitting the T-62 (but not limited to, also happens with T-55A and T-10M) in the shown region, has a possibility of not generating any spall inside the vehicle. I used the M551 Sheridan in this example, but have also tested with the TOW-2 found on the M3A3 Bradley.
Hitting the target close to, or directly in, the upper front plate’s splashguard, resulted in the lack of spalling. It’s more likely to happen with the splashguard than without. I would guess a 70-80% chance to not spall with the splashguard and 50-60% chance without it.
Perhaps it only happens in the testing range and not (or at least not as likely) in a live game? Would require further testing.
