Hell nah bro what is this
Greatness in the making
Live footage of Concept 3 Vs a Leopard 2(it fumbled the flank)
Also PBV 301 Vs early F-5s?
How would this work with partially built vehicles?
I think it could work as an event as long as the reward structure or game mode fit, but as a regular game mode ya its bunk.
Some of my most memorable times playing vics in SQUAD was playing as insurgents and doing things like taking out an abrams with a bmp1, or shredding a bradley with a toyota hilux with dual 23mm AA in the back.
I wish they leaned more into that type of gameplay for the SEAD event, would have been cool if it was like F4S vs mig21 w/ r3 and equal team sizes, but problem is thats bad for the defenders from a rp/sl perspective if the SAMS are doing the heavy lifting, and lack of comms.
When wete they first tested, if they were never texted when were they finished buliding
I could understand a very limited version of historical battles happening (AS AN EVENT) but stuff like an F-22 being at 12.7 (date of introduction should be 2005) and the Tucano being at the same BR (date of introduction should be 2003) is not possible and clearly shows the weakness of this system.
For reference:

historical matchmaking in ground would be even less balanced
Who cares about balancing! Life is not balanced! Thats the fun of it!
can’t wait to see US mains weep at the sight of my T-72B (they are in an M48)
sure as long as you are playing the op vehicle
would you be willing to play the worse vehicle?
Just hit me how horrid it would be if you wanted to start playing Israel air because you’d need to grind the Sakeen while fighting Sabres
it gets even weirder if you take ammo into consideration, Germany didn’t order HEAT-FS rounds for it’s Leopard Is until the 1980s, it’s even worse for Japan as all the Type 74s would be facing M1A2s.
god, imagine fighting 105 M1’s with sad rounds in a T-72B 1989
I would, i do it all the time
Im not taking ammo to consideration, that mixes stuff up and it wont make much of a difference
How does this “manages” the Tigers and Panthers having no “viable” enemies on the enemy tank list…?
(I am really asking as you seem to indicate it works…so i got curious on how this goes for real)
I am assuming US players have to call for air…
It’s air + boats + tanks for america, and different amounts can be spawned of a specific thing at a time.
Like, for the upcoming Operation Ten-Go, we’ll be getting 1 lives of japanese in the Yamato + escorts vs 271 lives of hellcats, helldivers and corsairs and dauntlesses.
During the Iwo Jima event, they also tried to keep the amount of planes in air at a time in check by asking some of us to go play tanks and stuff. For the past battle of bulge event, allies could only have 2 heavy tanks total for example (I wasnt there alas).
Another thing is that often non-player objectives are added as well.
For instance, when we were doing Iwo Jima as american LVTs, we’ve had artillery/field guns to provide targets for MGs and 105 mm HE lobbers. We all started with LVTs to simulate the landing action and despite being unable to threaten certain enemies, it felt quite fun! Especially once our battleships got in position and painted the hillside black with their artillery guns.
Another thing is well…
Some battles are night time. During Iwo jima, doing CAS when it was night was very dangerous due to searchlights which even LVTs could knock out to be useful and make it safer for those in planes to set up their attack runs.
I understand what you’re trying to achieve here and I think I have a better idea that’s simpler to explain.
- Take the Pages of History vehicle lists, turn them into event lobbies for arcade, realistic and sim. Makes the pages of history events more immersive.
I share the opinion that historical match making needs to have curated vehicle lists, but I would also insist on historical match making being map specific, scenarios essentially. However, I think most scenarios would be too restrictive and most players would just load pub matches so they could play their preferred lineups.
Actually normal 75 Sherman’s can kill a tiger, the APHE can the pen the tiger H1 front and the APC can penn both the E and the H1
The problem with the historical BRs is that the first thing to do is to correct the damage model for all bullets, adjust the armor and volumetric bullets, and improve the penetration calculator so that more variables affect penetration. Once this is done, many of the post-WW2 tanks could be separated from those from WW2 and immediately subsequent prototypes. A balance would also have to be found based on performance. For example, it is difficult to fight a Tiger I with a Sherman or Cromwell with its 75mm cannon, but an M10 or a Sherman Firefly would have no problem. The issue would be how to make the entire German team not only field Tigers or Panthers, or how to make them only face 76mm Shermans, M36s, and Pershings.
