then there’d be like 4 different planes in a match
There already are
insane post.
no
Wdym?
Good or bad?
Custom battles exist for a reason.
Era limit would be inherently unfun and imbalanced.
Realism is not history, and history is not realism.
Ah, so unrealistic arcade nonsense that makes things even less fun and imbalanced…
Every single time… Every time someone tries to peddle this, they come up with the least realistic features to try and justify it.
“We’ll have artificial limits on vehicles to force players to play vehicles they don’t want to play.”
“We’ll have Abrams fighting Type 61s.”
So on and so forth…
What would you do then?
Im not suggesting anything i just want to hear what you guys think
The BR system, it allows the developer to make mobility, ammunition, and armor to publicly available documents then change the BR based on capabilities of each vehicle.
For air it’s climb rate, weapons & defenses, airframe performance…
It is the best system any company has come up with for dealing with vehicles that allow them to model them realistically.
Every other game that does not use a BR system changes mobility, ammunition, and/or armor.
World of Tanks changes mobility and ammo, but they model armor correctly.
And fair if you’re not suggesting this, many of us are on edge from historical battles suggestions and we may seem hostile when we have nothing against you personally.
How would you do it? BR or event?

The only viable form of “historical battle” is not ratings, but specially curated events.
Like those KRABB_NATION does for simmers, and occasionally WingalingDragon.
Like, we will be having a D-Day re-enactment in custom sim battles come June 28.
These are the pre-picked vehicles people can use:
This works because KRAB and company will actively take care to basically act like Dungeon Masters for a D&D game and personally control who spawns what and when and direct us to do stuff.
Also, if you wanna do historical battles - STRONGLY recommend you join Team Sim/KRABB_NATION discords.
Tank SB is basically same as GRB just commander view/gunner view only.
Plane SB - bombers and attackers are fairly low-effort to learn. I can share my MnK setup for fighters if anyone’s interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarthunderSim/comments/1la109e/good_starting_equipment/mxhzhev/
historical br’s means you’d be able to fight T-72B’s and T-80B’s in an M48… (that’s a genuine thing, the M48 was retired in '87)
My proposed system is based of dat of first acceptance, you want to uptier your m48 thats on you pal
How do i join
This for me?

Has links.
Usually the sub has a reminder posted for big moments.
But they won’t.
Mode with BRs being set based only on year of introduction of vehicles would be hands down the worst mode in the history of all PvP games, and beyond.
From my pov your thought process has some flaws:
- You have to distinguish between
a) Semi-historical (like axis vs allies) and
b) Historical MM (vehicles that actually faced each other) - Connecting a BR to years need a determination of seeing service / combat - and not to maiden flights / entering production.
- The whole concept needs to hard lock BRs - meaning no uptiers / downtiers. But some aircraft were still in combat until the end of WW 2 - USSR P-39s & P-63s were used until May 1945; so you need to implement time frames for their service…
- Historical BRs make no sense as you try to put immersion into the game without considering fantasy settings by gaijin regarding vehicle performance, handling and weapon effectiveness. Same as lobby sizes - most battles / campaigns were decided by numerical superiority and not by quality, the whole concept of wt is based on equally sized lobbies.
Just a few examples to think about:
- The current flight models (FMs) of certain aircraft (most prominent A6M Zero) are not considering high speed compression - that’s why tactics which actually worked irl against them are useless in Air RB. Whilst it is no problem to kill A6Ms with enough altitude advantage (especially with a Hellcat or P-47) you won’t be able to find enough USN pilots trying their luck in Wildcats.
- You play a video game by Russian devs - most of the WW 2 tech of the USSR is way inferior to German/US/UK or JP (just aircraft) weapon systems. So certain hardware in wt is only playable thx to way too low BRs (like Yak-3s which should face current 5.3/5.7 German aircraft and 262s) and weapon “adjustments” like the 20mm ShVak buff.
- You might find a hell of guys happy to clap US/USSR tanks in Tigers - but the same guys would not be playing with Pz 38(t)s against KV-1s.
In other words:
As long as you focus just on immersion regarding used hardware you just scratch the idea of any historical set-up. The game in itself is besides the shape, sizes and skins of the vehicles not even remotely connected to reality - the game contains a lot of compromises to make it playable for masses.
