So i wanted to talk about something that has been bugging me since i started playing War Thunder back in 2022; And that is…

Where are the properly modelled bomber cockpits?

So the old WW2 bombers (and some strike aircraft) have been in the game since the open beta back in 2012, and i wan’t to talk about 2 (technically 3) vehicles in particular here.

Those being the A-20G-25 and it’s premium Lend Lease variant the A-20G-30 and the Ju-288C.

To start off, the A-20, it has been here since the open beta, and they added it’s eastern cousin in 2022 in update Fire and Ice, they are practically the same Model but with a different skin and crew models.

BUT they STILL don’t have a properly modelled cockpit! it has been 11 YEARS since War Thunder launched and this plane still has a placeholder cockpit!

Let me show you the ingame placeholder and a couple pictures of it’s actual cockpit:

As you can see it’s worlds apart, and our ingame version is lacking a proper gunsight for it’s guns!
Let me show you a screenshot of the A-20B havoc in IL-2, keep in mind i don’t War Thunder to be on the same level as simulators but come on guys! Gaijin makes way more money than the IL-2 Great Battles Devs.

See?

And now for the Ju-288C, the plants vs zombies simulator plane:

Lads, can we put some pressure towards gaijin to atleast give the premium bombers and their tech tree variants their actual cockpits? The game isn’t in open beta anymore to justify they not having resources for this, and also they could model the MiG-19PTs cockpit to actually have it’s radar screen on it intead of just being a MiG-19S cockpit copy without the radar screen ROFL

These things happen when a game itself was a rehash of old assets from previous games for a small F2P title which then exploded out into what we see today by complete accident. I would not be surprised if many of the models on the lower tier planes (American FW 190 for example) are older than 80% of the playerbase.

Its because they are so much bigger than most fighters, with far more details to model. Plus it would only benefit a minority of a minority and so holds little value. They’d rather focus their attention on other aircraft instead of bombers (not that they have bothered even with many top tier fighters)

It’d be cool if someone would show how to make cockpits, but the guides for this are EXTREMELY old.

They aren’t getting added because of just how much money it costs to have them made. They are larger than standard fighter cockpits and are extremely expensive for gaijin to have made. They also don’t do much outside of sim experiences.

Because they can profit from it so they won’t do it, pretty much the only reason and it’s a joke, especially for the bombers they are charging money for.
But people continue to excuse Gaijin’s corner cutting because apparently it’s okay to neglect aspects of your game if it costs time and/or money.

Have yet to see other games just refuse to finish aspects of their game.

Ngl, I’ve looked into learning how to model stuff in game using the CDK just to get some vehicles that are drastically needed (SLAMRAAM, for example).
