Hello everybody! Do you think that with the recent changes to certain radar missiles flight performances such as aim120, aim7, r77, mica, etc...it makes infared dogfight missiles underwhelming

AESA need a rework anyways

Because the US is more advanced in fighter AESA technology, since 1990’s it’s been tested and developed specifically for fighters

this is like the MOST amount of information top tier radars will have now days snail doing guessing games : AN/APG-81 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) | Northrop Grumman

Ok but think of this, i know it might sound crazy but maybe they arent? Is there any indication that the AN APG 81 is technologically more sophisticated than the Captor Es?

Everyone knows that obviously, but outside racks should just like IRL increase RCS and detectability

they are. youd have to be delusional to believe otherwise.

no, but its also nearly 20 years older. which goes to show how advanced it is, and how advanced the latest US AESA are

but that doesn’t matter in game when ECM is like infinite chaff when added(that’s my guess of what it will do because snail doesn’t know how it could work)

Ecm is not a magic super duper ultra mega Chaff button, it should be strong depending pn the aircraft, but nations know this and have ways to get through ECM in some conditions, but this is too technical for me

last time ECM was in game radars couldn’t lock it like the b-52 and tu95 events the bombers even up close couldn’t be radar locked and shot at by SARH like inf chaffing its unrealistic but its what was added

Why exactly?

Ok so it might actually not use more mature AESA technology or are you saying that the US is 20 years ahead of everyone else in radar technology?

Not doubting any of that but the question was whether APG 81 is the undoubtedly best radar.

Because ECM isn’t properly implemented, we don’t know how it will work when properly implemented.

Otherwise if ECM was such a magic super duper ultra i win button, no nation would have Radar guided missiles after the invention of ECM.

New tech ECM vs older planes should be brutal though

E.g F-16A radar should basically be horribly weak vs a modern Su-25SM ECM

ECM is not unbeatable some missiles in game have anti ECM like finding its radar waves bouncing off the object pretty crazy so that’s already nerf to ECM (its own radar waves I think)

but if 5th gen jets in beast mode cant be in the meta then f15EX and J-16 wont have chance I don’t know if this will help it but 5th gen jets have a stealthy shape

if decades of extensive R&D over others as well as many more types of fighter AESA designed and manufactured do not indicate there being a technological gap i dont know what does.

by 2006 the US had developed and fielded 3 separate AESA radars. EFT only had 1 very basic test AESA earlier. so the technology is more mature, especially with incremental changes and refinements to the APG-81 over the years

cant say for sure, depends on what you value i guess.

The AN/APG-63(V)3 is an old AESA anyway, taking it as a benchmark for the APG-81 is a very goddamn low bar. Anyway the APG-79 and the APG-82(V)1 are better in every single way so.

just to prove ECM will be broken on F15EX and beast mode will be the best mode theThe Pentagon’s Directorate of Operational Test and Evaluation (DOT&E) even said that it can hold up against 5th gen thanks to (EPAWSS)

F15EX will be Broken

this thread is gonna make me stroke the fuck out

How about any actual proof that there is a technological gap thats not “well they used to be better so they have to be better now”?

Yeah exactly. Thats my point. I guess “US did it first” is at least more of an argument than what the other guy said.
