Helis are lowk either completely useless or blatantly overpowered, very few helis are in the middle. Take the jewish ah60 for example: completely useless against other planes, helis and aa’s. Whereas something like a mi28nm, 13.0 ah64 and z10me are blatanly overpowered, but even then only sometimes since aa spam is insufferable and at its worst. Helis need a complete rework to be balanced - from the grind to munitions and battle ratings
Only functional helicopters are the early saclos from 8.3 - 9.7. And the 10.3 ones like oh58 ah6 and even 11.0 ah1w.
I’d trash most of the 9.7s like the Bo105s/AH-1S/AH-1F etc., functionally useless with all the free Igla ZSUs/Ozelots/Gepard 1A2s around, Mi-24s vaguely useable thanks to flare dumping
Bro but you have 3.75 - 4km range, while manpad needs 3km or less to lock you.
Also some helis have ircm to fool manpads like israeli ah1 or the soviet mi24. With also flares fooling ir missiles.
The only issue its the bo105 which it need to loose 3 atgms to carry some flares.
Hmm weird he must be close to your helipad like next to your ground spawn or smth. Anyway thats a map issue.
He was 5m away from his spawn, with the A cap 3.8km away that’s well within the max range of TOWs which are unguidable above 3.5km anyway

lowtier helis are lowk so ass bc of stingers, borderline unflarable, thankfully players at that br at blind, deaf and functionally disabled. Even worse when you meet a strela, that’s even worse. helis at 10.7-11.3 (up to 12.0 excluding uptiers) are fine, aa’s can still easily make them useless by just existing on most maps, but at least helis get good ordinance to take the aa’s out

but I still have a ton of clips of getting slapped by stingers/Iglas/Type 93s from >3km away grinding the AH-1F skin I just can’t be bothered to make something funny out of all of it atm
I’d rather meet a Strela-10, the IR lock range is no where near as good and the IRCM actually works on it anyway, the only way to die to one in a Heli is to fly high and get contrast locked
My first 2 matches of today, playing Tzefa D/E (AH-1F israeli). IR and cannon SAMs couldnt kill me (no ir lock if far away from those type 93). The only menace its SACLOS munitions.
I had matches where I got completely ignored for some reason too, doesn’t change the fact that as soon as someone with a MANPADS discovers he has hands you are screwed, you were lucky the PGZ09 wasn’t spamming AHEAD, Type 93 was… idk, and 2 SPAA incl. a PGZ04A were distracted by another target.
Heres a more clear video, look how many shilkas with IGLAS just stare at me bc Im too far from lock range, and when they actually fire at me, I just flare them.
You didn’t flare it he locked onto your missile, for the 2nd engagement you’re also too far back to do anything yourself

Last manpad was going for me until it sank to track the flares. Anyways you can see how many spaa players couldnt get a proper lock, most of them just kept staring at me.

Ok results of SPAA vs 9.7 Tzefa D/E:
- Type 93 was able to lock and launch a missile at 4km+, also the missile its impossible to flare. The missile will get you at high and low altitude.
- PGZ04 (HN-6) and LAV (FIM-92K Stinger) were unable to lock at the helicopter at beyond 3.8km, with also the posibility of the missiles being flared if enough are spammed.
- Cannon SPAA such as pgz will have a hard time killing the helicopter, AHEAD rounds do little damage, while APDS without tracers and the use of smoke will sometimes do the job. Tracer rounds as gepard’s aphe will be easily dodged.
In resume, type93 way better against helicopters and at the same br as weeker seekers/missiles. Also BO-105’s flares werent able to flare Stormed AD missiles and its a sht.
