Helicopters being useless

Yes, but only the op ones. Ah64e, mi28nm and z10me

It’s so easy to play these helis that I actually believe they should remove the fnf missiles or make top tier sams actually able to hit them. I can literally notch any missile in the ah64e which makes no sense. Anti air radar missiles are easy to dodge (which shouldn’t be possible) but air to air launched radar missiles hit (which makes sense)

@GeNeXsis-psn Please stop spamming your own video over and over again, especially as it doesn’t even prove much. That would have to go to the communities fan zone area, not here

Yeah, feels like 10-11.0 BR helis are borderline useless now. FInally got here and feels sad when game is full of no flyzone for jets and helis on this BR when no FnF missiles… For planes dont have them on any up to 12. either. Specially most modern AA does that. There is just no way to fight back.

Ground RB just isn’t the place for helicopters. Helicopters werent designed to fly into areas filled with SPAA and enemy planes. Got a whole list of helis that are pretty much useless in ground RB. Hell, most of these are useless even in Heli PvE battles. The criteria for “useless” includes one of the following:

No Rocket CCIP
No IRST Auto-tracker
No Fnf Missiles
ATGMs with a range of 4km or below
No reliable AA missiles

That’s like half the tech tree helis in the game. I’m not saying that it’s impossible to get kills in any of these but it’s just not worth the time and effort. You’ll take the time finding routes and flying behind cover just to get shot down as soon as you’re able to engage anything. You’re better off not using them at all. The same applies for anyone who doesn’t wanna just sit above their helipad and shoot ATGMs. People get upset when helicopters do that, but it’s the only thing that works reliably.

Most of that yeah but for the love of god get the American H-34 off that list XD

Check the stats off the missile it has with a focus on range and guidance. Keep in mind it’s 7.7

I was hesitant to put it on the list because of its battle rating but it only gets one ATGM and it’s not a tech tree vehicle. It’s cheaper to just buy a premium too. It’s like $100+ on the gaijin store for some reason.

Oh yeah, the price of it is utterly insane but that’s really the only thing keeping it from being one of the most hated helis in the game.

If they were able to be bought as a regular premium vehicle it would be hell. Basically 1 free kill per rearm with nothing to do but spawn an aircraft or break line of sight if you know it’s there.

They are very map dependant, but on some map especially depending on the BR they can be absolute monsters, best example is usaly around 10.0

This. There are a few good maps that gave plenty of options for cover then there are some with either none or just one area with decent cover. Its really a gamble if you’re grinding helis. Its even worse at top tier where the SPAA can smell you as soon as you leave the ground.

StatShark - Global Statistics - Press “Realistic” “Helicopters” and whichever time period to see how bad helis can be, aside of fnf slingers. Same logic BMPT doesn’t represent every tank.

With a lot of the helis i would definitely agree, especially the utility ones and dumb rocket helis. The amount of autocannons and tanks with good mgs is so high that its basically a gamble whether you get a kill or not. Considering these loadouts are around 200 SP (correct me if im wrong) its most likely a net negative if you come in from a slightly bad angle or just run into the wrong tank too early.

There are some which id have to disagree with though which imo are very effective (or at least notably more effective than their peers at their br and are far from useless:

All the alouettes and the gazelles (while yes, very vulnerable to air threats, but that counts for almost every heli until you get autolock) they are very nimble and have enough range and mobility to guide in their atgms while easily dodging radar spaa if they keep their distance. I’m not saying this is way more effective than a well played tank in a good position, even on a open map, but it opens up the map and tanks which are locking down important parts of the map from way more angles, making it possible to take out tanks which are locking your team in spawn for example. In comparison to lets say a mi24a the alouettes are in much less risk of dying from ground targets. And the 9.7 Gazelle can carry 3 atgms and 2 mistrals (iirc) which are very hard to dodge for a lot of planes at this BR and even harder if you dont waste them but wait for good launch conditions (slow target, target with low lateral speed, target moving away after failing to strafe you)

The BO105s (and HKP9A) are in a similar boat. While even from their limited loadout they definitely arent the most opressive helis, but its good that they arent. It being one of the most nimble heli in game makes it insanely hard to take out with spaa if played right. And even in a plane it can be incredibly hard to find and attack one of these if they dodge, change positions and hide at very low altitude.

And the Lynx AH. Mk.1 is basically just a g-lynx? coulndt find any notable differences? The glynx is an absolute beast at its br (though its been some time since i played mine, so brs and corresponding aas might have changed slightly). Hellfires and thermal sight at 10.7 is just nasty.

check speed!

oh damn thats crazy, thx. 100 kph faster with the different engines. Still, if everything else is the same basically the tech tree lynx is still very strong. 8 Hellfires and 4 stingers on a very nimble and maneuverale heli. That you can fire fromo ranges where ur almost invincible for spaa (though the bad zoom on gunner cam is a bit of a problem then but still)

They were literally created for it to destroy tanks, being destroyed in a tank once every 500 battles isn’t reason to hate helicopthers, it’s just skill issue, if you are destroyed way more often.

Well this is a game and games need balance. Irl helis counter tanks duh thats the point there is never a situation where a tank can take care of a heli. But this is a game and I dont think I have to explain why having an invincible death machine is not good despite the realism

Invincible, i have destroyed a lot of them while operating tanks, it is easily to destroy 20 helis while being destroyed once by them, also you can hide.

Their skill issue. You can shoot them with main gun if they decide to rush in. Good luck killing a heli thats actually playing it smart behind a hill.

You mean using lrf and proxy fuse, i am Israeli main i have programmed he plus tracking, some tanks also have autocanons, proxy missles.

Almost none none of the top tier tanks have programmable or proxy shells tho.

But still missiles, proxy missles, autocanons, smoke, ess, aps soft and hard, also planes, but i understand that grinding them can be very painful for many players, through most brs helis are just free kills, but still can be fun.
