Helicopter grind is awful / which way is the fastest?

Currently i am grinding my helicopters with tanks, since i have researched the tank tree already.
I am using rank V tanks to research a rank VI helicopter, because if i pick a ra k VI tank i would get hit with research penalty, wouldnt i?
The problem is, the grind is painfully slow.

If i play averagely and win a match, i get around 3000 RP.
The most expensive rank VI tank needs 220k RP. But for some reason the damn BO105 needs 370k. Thats 150k more. This is almost like i would research the Leo2A5 (400k RP, rank 11.7) with a Leo1 (rank 8). This is atrocious.
There should be a decrease in Helicopter RP requirements, or a buff to RP gain when researching with tanks, or remove the penalty when researching them with high tier tanks .

My question is, how to research them the fastest way possible? Playing the heli in realistic is no my thing, i am too bad to play realistic.
So is it faster to grind it with tanks, or to play the enduring confrontation?
I only played Heli EC once, it took forever to reach the enemy, then a gepard instantly shot me down. :(

Prepare for a bit of yapping - the most reliable way is surely EC but man, strap yourself in for one BORING ride.

The Gepard is the deadliest SPAA in EC at this BR. You are gonna have to stretch the very limit of your missile’s range, assuming it’s 3.50km like the AS.11 or AGM-22. The Gepard will open fire from around 3.25km and be lethally accurate from at least 3km.

ZSUs you don’t have to worry about because I have seen people rocket rush them and not die. I am guessing you don’t have all modules for your helicopter UH-1D so the safest bet is to avoid convoys which are protected by Gepards. Go for the cluster of anti tank recoiless rifles which are protected by the ZSUs.

Capping points is easy if you are gonna get there first, but if you land and capture a point in heli you are the one who has to return to base and on any helipad - or that task fails.

Morning mate, everything @jaded_sakura77 said above is spot on.

I have grinded the UK / ISR / USSR Heli tree’s and I found Heli PVE (and the former - now thankfully non existent - Heli PVP) to be the best way of doing so.

Sadly there is no two ways about this - it takes a very, very long time, and PVE is particularly unforgiving to starter Heli’s for the reasons (SPAA) Jaded outlined above. I will just add on though, the snail removed the rolands which previously protected the bases, so it’s quite easy to just destroy these with a load of dumb rockets now (Might take you a few reloads to finish one off).

I would highly reccomend that if you’re serious about reaching the top tier helicopters, consider investing in a premium. Not just because it massively speeds up the process (and even with a premium its still slow), but also because it significantly reduces the pain factor.

When I play PVE and notice starter helis (or ones with no long range AGM’s to deal with SPAA), I will destroy the SPAA for them and allow them to mop up the easy stuff. So if you’re ever really struggling and i’m available, i’d be happy to do that for you.

All the best.

It’s a shame you don’t like GRB, because your Alouette would be untouchable from the ground (except a few outliers) all the way up to 10.0.

Took me ages to grind the russian line even when PVP EC was around. Had both premium and Ka-50 for the most part

Man, KA50 in PVP was genuinely the most unfair, broken thing I have ever experienced in any video game in my life lol.

I grew so tired of dying to it when grinding my British Heli’s that i bought it out of frustration, and i think i have something like 1,100+ player frags in 30 something battles (Probably half a dozen of which i left very early on).

Was disgusting how unfair that thing was. So glad the mode was canned.

Oh, yeah, if it’s useful for you to know OP, it took me 52 rounds of PVE in the Peten to reach Saraph in the Israeli tree. (Just to give you a reference idea of how long it takes with a premium Heli)

EC PVP was ka50 playground, and before that, a UHT one. When they added the City map, a lot more helis became playable. Not sure why they didn’t keep it.

Starstreaks where good for this but only the top end helicopter had them

I think I only unlocked Teapache right before the mode was removed, so didn’t really get to take revenge for all the suffering endured in Glynx unfortunately lol.

Those were real dark days for Grinding Heli’s. PVE takes way longer than PVP did, but i’d rather be bored for 100 hours than suffer Vikhr torment for 50 lol.

you’d spawn, sit on some mountain and get one kill per Vhikir you fired

if you’d encounter another KA50 you’d just shoot his missiles until you both have none and from them you’d go sperate ways

it was much more boring than the new PVE mode tho

Honestly the heli situation is entirely unacceptable, Heli PvE is like 20k RP per hour and some of the heli’s are just not viable.

They did exactly what I said they would do, is dump millions of RP on ground, another horrible economy, and call it a day, so whenever you complain about heli grind now they’ll use the excuse that you can use ground, because adding vehicles to the game that require a different mode and vehicle to grind surely isn’t an example of horrendous game design.

now fastest ways are using premium tanks (also premium heli if you can put into your line up) and playing GRB like grinding tanks
trust me it easier nowadays back in the day in eternal torture to get top Heli that isn’t Russia

Controversial Opinion but I think they should bring back the old Heli PvP. With the Saclos Missile Nerf Vikhrs wouldnt be as strong as they were. And now there are a whole bunch of nations with Helis that have Spikes. The Starstreaks are still viable and im sure TY90s would work really well too.

The only Nation it would suck for is the US. And people playing starter Helis. But I would really hope they would have a br split like the current PvE one has (or even more brackets) as that was the single biggest issue with the old PvP mode.

bro really said the gepard is the deadliest instead of the za35 or the m42 that literally does not have a radar and snipes you from +4.5km without tracers

As others have said, Heli EC is the most consistent way of earning RP. However, because of how bad Gaijin made the EC economy, it is not enjoyable whatsoever.

Dunno, I got to the point where I was unlocked the HKP9A, then quit, started to play some of Russia though, got the unlocking the MI-24V, idk, generally speaking it’s not worth it.

I would buy the MI-28A for Sweden, but it’s in GE, and I’d rather buy a pack vehicle.

Starter helis are a mess, being expected to grind hundreds of thousands of RP with a heli with a handful of crappy rockets and no ballistic computer is insanity.

Heli EC is basically a 3 part game.

  1. Extremely painful grind to get the first few mods to actually have a usable helo. Anyone with even the slightest advantage will reap many rewards before you even get there.

  2. Dedicate time to play long, long EC battles waiting for players to drop out so you can finally take the easier targets.

  3. With luck you’ll finally have enough mods that you are top dog and can force the pain on others as you zoom around faster and kill easier.

Eventually you’ll buy a new helo…go to 1

Its literally time = money, possibly more than any other mode. And premiums/boosters are worth considering but what ever way you approach it there will be pain and boredom.

Like others have said, Heli EC is the " best " way to grind the Heli TT.

But like others have said, it’s an outright miserable experience. Worst experience I’ve ever suffered in the game, frankly.

Bring it back, but with a BR split/better MM to prevent helicopters with a2a missiles from facing ones without them.

I found it very fun when I wasn’t swatted out of the sky by a Ka-50 5 seconds after spawning.

Grinded the entire German Heli tree with tanks :')
