Heavy bombers needs attention

Lets be honest, heavy bombers suck in any gamemode, and they are not even fun to play.

You get obliterated by any fighter in game because for some reason, gaijin thinks that an singular shot will cause a rupture in the whole wing of a B-17 at this point fighters are more survivable than bombers.

The AI gunners are weird as well, ik they are not supposed to hit every time 100% of the shots, but they still are not hitting and making them useless in a way where if you can’t trust them to protect while your aiming for the bombs losing that bombing run your flying 20 minutes to do.

Also most of them don’t even have an proper interior which sucks as well.

Its time for damage model overhauls. (not just heavy bombers, but I think they need to be first) Break the models into far smaller parts, so that damage is far more localised and really consider the impact that some rounds have on each part. Maybe increasing in places and decreasing in others.

Yeah… AI Gunners are a… devisive issue, but the current choices for them is really dumb. The AI code found on naval seems to be semi balanced for automated gunners, with a few tweaks. It would be perfect for heavy bombers.

Yeah, that sucks, but there is no chance of that ever changing. They said they are too complicated and not enough people play them in SB

Maybe add that gunners can replace the pilot if the pilot got sniped(depends if you can walk through the interior maybe even with cooldown).

There is no drive to fix heavy bombers until the objective structure gets completely and irreversibly upended to where bomber efforts are actually needed to win every match.

They get ignored because their ability to be relevant has been washed away over many years of nerfs by salty fighter mains.

I played pretty much all aircraft types and the current air rb design is trash for all
least affected are fighters, only downside is that you always have 1 airfield camper and destroying ground is not possible in the most aircraft so you can actually win faster than 25minutes(lets ignore the fact that you still have to look out every few seconds to not get straved by the airfieldcamper).

attack aircraft/interceptors do suffer alot since you do not have a certain amout of savetime to actually do a groundpound. You are forced to play as a fighter most time, so some work some dont…

bombers actually do not have anything going besides some funny energy fighting aircraft like the t18 or DB7. Or you need good gunners like to do well in them. Since none of the bombers have to be good at their job(dropping many bombs/much payload) to be rewarded quite good there is no reason to play them, even when you can bomb(lets ignore fighter and attackers destroying bases for a second) you have most of the time more than enough to drop at like 2+ bases. Its funny to have 4 bombers and only 4 bases which respawn minutes later while waiting with like half the payload left.

after all of this you may have got some rewards but still you pretty much cant carry rounds.

and to be fair its not funny when the last player sits in space as a bomber(and the rewards also do suffer
more time and less activity will result in less rewards and since the bomber doesnt get skill bonus it will get only a few research points)

GJN handeled AI Gunners like many other things: Buff to OP years ago and now nerf to useless.

Damage models are a problem all over the place. And this severe damage thing and the changes to the ammo made it even worse. Additionally if you hit a bomb even with a 7mm round the whole plane explodes. It’s ridiculous.

that sounds interesting, we can have another value to balance planes too

Nice carry, but this wont change this issue I could also show screenshots of me getting 6-7kills in bombers and it wont change the fact they need more love
