HEAT is underperforming

Yes Gaijin has not shown a willingness to model electrical systems.

How far would you want them to model it? Fully model would of course be out of the question

The choice to model electrical systems would double the work load with currently researching tanks. I don’t know whether this would be doable in a reasonable amount of time. What would the effects be? Total incapacitation? Reduced performance? Many things to deal with.

That’s why a “stun” effect would simplify things nicely.

I feel players would favor destroying a tank over stunning it. If a better ammo is available, why wouldn’t they use it over your proposed model for HEAT rounds?

The exception would be for tanks that do not have better ammo available, but I feel those are limited in number and would be early HEAT rounds seen in WW2 vehicles

Multiple nations favored HEAT as a projectile in the post war era until more successful rounds were developed.

Yes, but I am referring to warthunder and its players. We don’t always use things historically in this game.

I feel like it would open new problems such as stun for other rounds. More effective rounds with the stun may be more difficult to model. Some may say it’s unfair only certain rounds have it.

I already explained why stun would be bad.
A simple solution is to just buff HEAT post pen.

You said it would be bad if anti-aircraft were able to stun lock vehicles as their shells contain explosive filler.

Anti-aircraft don’t shoot HEAT projectiles so this wouldn’t be an issue.

Considering the amount of reactive armor all nations put on their tanks, the focus on APS to counter them, the losses caused by even very old pieces of equipment like the RPG-7 and RPG-29 during the Iraqi war and the effectiveness of HEAT warheads in the more recent Ukrainian war, I would really say that they eventually proved correct.

So this is more about buffing a round you struggle with rather than anything historical/irl. I sort of figured that was the case.

The round’s performance is irrelevant to my personal skill, and no I don’t struggle because I am an above average player.

Me doing well with the round is irrelevant, balancing around a single player’s performance is asinine as are you for suggesting we do so.

I agree, HEAT shouldnt get a stun affect
