Some old BAe media team VHS footage of Hawk 100 and 200 in Oman and Malaysia
Nothing all that useful but it’s nice footage.
Oman video has some interesting bits like brief cockpit footage showing imagery from Hawk 103’s nose FLIR, the avionics lab test/calibration rig for the APG-66 radar, and a ground test release with a UK 1000lb bomb.
At least we’re still using the Avro RJ100 on other programmes. I feel like these radar test beds are the only heritage aircraft we have from these past companies going at the moment.
I kinda wish BAE had named their R&D divisions or sites after the companies it absorbed. Can you for example imagine if during EAP you’d read the press release ‘British Aerospace unveils EAP developed by Supermarine/Hawker/English Electric’
The flares on the F-5C are as much of a technical possibility as fitting the Harrier GR.3 (or AV-8A) flare dispensers to the Harrier GR.1, yet Gaijin don’t seem to have any willingness to entertain that idea.
I’ll have to eventually try and dig to find anything regarding the ALE-37 pod at some point. I know it could be given to the AV-8C, seeing as it has practically the exact same pylon wiring as the AV-8A, but I’m not entirely sure on the GR.1/GR.1A and GR.3 yet (on top of the SHars).
