Hawk 200 Parasitic drag and flight performance

The parasitic drag on the Hawk 200 is perhaps the worst I have ever seen in this game. The drop Tanks alone! slow down the aircraft by 90MPH THAT IS INSANE!!! No other Aircraft has that drastic of a loss in performance this has to be a bug surely. The Sea Eagle Anti ship missiles which you can take 3 of BTW have less effects on loss of speed by 50MPH??? only a loss of 54MPH with 3 massive anti ship missiles but 2 small drop tanks take 90mph??? The plane has little to no control at low airspeeds cannot turn has a 29sec turn time fully upgraded which is atrocious the Viggen can out turn the thing. Has zero energy retention despite it not being able to turn at all theres no way an aircraft that small and nimble IRL has that poor handling and performance

77.0 MPH lost with droptanks my mistake

Hm, that’s indeed strange, but the Hawk isn’t the only one with strange drag of drop tanks: Alpha Jet looses 63 km/h from drop tanks.

But then the Hunter Mk.58 only 0.7 km/h, and the AMX nothing…

There’s really something strange going on here, not sure if just stat card error, or indeed buggy implementation.

Something anectodal from the Hunter btw: I remember a conversation with a ex Swiss Hunter pilot, with whom I flew a Hunter Trainer once: At that time there were several ex-Swiss AF Hunters belonging to several museums and clubs airworthy and flying regularly, both single- and two-seaters.

What he noted as interesting and relevant when they did formation flying was that they tended to have the aircraft with the original drab paintjob in the lead, and the ones where the original paint was replaced with a glossy paintjob in the back, as the glossy paint increased the max. speed by about 5-10 km/h (you should always have the aircraft with the least speed/power in the front, as the ones with more speed/power can better react to how the leader flies.

Similarly they had the single-seaters in the lead, and the two-seaters int he back: The wide fuselage of the side-by-side cockpit arrangement actually had a positive effect on the air intakes, which resulted in the trainers als being about 5-10 km/h faster than the single-seaters…

(Then there was another challenge they had when flying in formation with onne of the Vampire trainers they had as well: They were slower and less powerfult han the Hunters obviously, but the Vampi pilot had to very careful as his trapezoid wing had very different behaviour in loopings than the Hunter’s swept wings…)

Uhuh… Let’s test this.

Definitely not -90mph.

Spaded or unspaded? i noticed the loss of speed directly corelated with the amount of upgrades the stock aircraft -90mph on the stat card

That was spaded.
Considering I won’t run the drop tanks outside endurance, the 14 minute fuel performance matters more to me.

I just ran a test in a Hawk and an Alpha Jet… dropping the tanks makes no difference to the speed.

How are you getting these numbers

contender for worst modelled recent addition

Statcard

seriously?

You didn’t even fly the plane?

Stop wasting our time.

oh I flew it quite a bit

Its actually not to bad at low speeds.

It just bleeds off a little too much speed.

but not enough to realise the statcards are meaningless…

run some tests… or just delete this moronic thread.

In air simulator its horrible you lose all elevator authority in and out of SAS dampening and Manual control

just move on kid

Its not good at AOA irl being an old school swept wing and all
