Upfront:
-
You might be aware of that the “no active players left” game mechanic is triggered not only by killing all enemies. If your last enemy is landing and repairing a timer starts - so if you don’t take off quick enough the “no active…” message pops up and your ticket bleed to zero starts.
-
The underlying timer looks like to be “overruled” by received critical hits or belly landings and you are declared as being inactive as sometimes the ticket bleeds starts immediately as soon as you touch the runway.
-
The bug report site is full with such examples, most of them open, some of them closed with “not a bug”. An example by the fellow player @int_main. I had similar experiences in 2023 - but i realized that this “non-bug” pops up for around 2-3 years.
-
But usually the timer works and you have time to land, do your stuff and take off again.
I just came out of a match in which i bombed as last player the last enemy player on his airfield:
Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On
-
He landed at timestamp 12:38. As i was not sure how long his repair will last i aimed at his location and at the end of the runway - and a 60 kg bomb hit him at 13:26 scoring a kill.
-
It looks like that i hit him exactly at the moment when his imho way too long lasting repair was finished. So i scored a kill - but he respawned 1 or 2 seconds later.
-
As soon as the kill was granted his ticket bar started to drop - and it did not stop after he managed to respawn. So the fellow player had no chance to fight back and kill me - and i missed the imho very rare opportunity to score 2 kills vs the same enemy in the same Air RB match.
In order to create a bug report (in case the timer is longer than 60 seconds) i need reliable /official statements by gaijin how long this timer is supposed to be.
That’s the reason why i am asking if anybody has seen any official statement (or changes) regarding this “non-active player” timer. Despite i am 100% sure that i read something about a change around 90-120 seconds a while ago - i am unable to find this announcement via forum search.
Thx in advance!

actually, the timer can start even without any damage to your aircraft

I can’t find any structure in this mechanic.
It becomes more paradox in battles the whole enemy team counted as dead but the tickets don’t run down.
I checked some replays. No enemy player was afk in battle or repairing his dead plane or lost connection.
Bug report site isn’t a valid thing to check if a problem is a bug or not. Many times they close reports with “no bug” but it’s definitly a bug, e.g. the display of sec weaponary in the scoreboard. And comments to explain the decision aren’t a thing at all.
And because the game isn’t open, no one can prove them wrong.

My personal opinion based on my personal experience with past iterations and current condition of this mechanic - Do Not Touch anything, please.
Last implementation is the least bugged and did not infuriate me even once, sometimes it’s somewhat long to wait for the implicit (invisible) timer to go when it theoretically should end, but fear of possible false triggers are bigger and scarier.
The only change I heavily stand for - Visible Activity %. It is super important multiplier if to go for max rewards and will be helpful in this case of match duration with inactive players. Explicit value will allow to end matches earlier without infuriating players, like when certain total activity will reach bottom value for a team. But then developers should increase rewards to compensate short and actionous matches.
I think Gaijin might be playing with a myriad of code related to the airfield and ticket bleed. Somewhat related, I noticed that takeoff flaps are now being automatically deployed on every plane once you release the brake?
In addition to your topic, I have seen other topics/reports related to re-arming/re-spawning and last night had several Rank 5/6 matches go almost the full length (YAY!) with an AFK bad guy even after destroying all of the enemy aircraft and 80% of the convoys/ground targets — something I haven’t seen in a very long time.

Check your Instructor settings. I had the same problem, and with no reason Instructor settings were enabled without touching them for years.

Yes it’s definitely inconsistent.
It’s been a while since I was the victim of such a bug, but I can recall two times where I, as last player on my team, landed (and I mean landed for real; wheels down no damage no scraping no bellylanding practically perfect 3-point landings), with no damage on my airframe either mind you, and as soon as I refeueled/rearmed and was set up at the start of the runway the ticket bleed and “no active players” started. Yes, as I was throttling up.
It’s definitely inconsistent; the problem is I don’t think it’s inconsistent due to a bug rather I think it’s intentionally inconsistent. You know, for Gaijin reasons.

Wow, that’s exactly what it was, thank you. I haven’t had any of those settings set to ‘Yes’, like, ever. Wild.
