Has having the gun shot out on the Tiger 1 just become tiresome?

I’m not the game is changed that badly by people coming in at top tier with 60 dollar tanks to the same ratio as those who have played their way up to top tier.No way of knowing for sure and maybe direct entrants at top tier is another topic possibly but we are talking mostly mid tier here/5/6/7 BR

I’m simply linking a gun barrel epidemic with poor performance. Its a shot in the dark but what else do we have ,I mean its an interesting link.

The American high tier is accessible whith premiums and German mid tier is easy to get to.

nah man, after the Tiger 1’s got moved up in br this argument does not work. Its literally a worse tank than the TOG II angle monster

It is but the numbers of those who play up to that level vs those who buy in must be huge in favour of F2P and if buying in was the issue then the poor showing on the chart would there for all and its not ,its there for the US and Germany only as such a glaring anomaly.

I’m not discrediting what you say entirely as it does have a relevance but I can make that work across the entire chart.

Tiger 1:

Has similar mobility to the Centurion Mk1 both forward and especially backwards - I can regularly reach 35-40 km/h speeds in tiger E. Has a semi-stabilized gun allowing quick settling of the barrel and limited fire on the move (interleaved roadwheels create some crazy stabilizing effect compared to my experience driving the comet and charioteer especially). Has amazing reverse speed. Has a shell that sacrifices penetrating power for guaranteed instakill if it gets anywhere into the crew compartment because of 215g tnt filler equivalent.

It’s basically a centurion with very annoying shell placement (apparently even 14 shells cannot get rid of the sponson ammo rack), lack of angled front and an insanely good shell for average-ish pen. I’d say it more than makes sense to share 6.0 with the centurion mk 1. Its biggest weakness compared to the centurion is the slower turret traverse making reacting harder, and maybe the lack of lolpen APDS that allows you to shut down american heavies by shooting the gunner.

In my experience playing the tiger E - if the map allows me to do well with the centurion, I do well with the tiger. Now, this is not a lot of maps - Tunisia, Voloklomosk, Sinai, El alamein, Sands of sinai, second battle of hurtgen (single cap).

The ToG 2 meanwhile cannot reverse, cannot advance and has a solid AP shell that will kill frontally, but not from the side.

It did at one point now the T34 is shrugging it off on a regular basis and in return taking out my gun turning me into a MG Pillbox.

I went away form 6BR after hundreds of games and finding the German heavies to be zero fun anymore. You always had to be careful and you always had to work so screaming skill issues doesn’t cut it much here.

Trouble is with this game is they just cant stop tinkering, nerfing and boosting and even if they haven’t messed about here the paranoia is epic : )

Gaijin really needs to remove that sponson ammo rack priority and the grenade launchers. 2 clear nerfs intended for a lower br.

I sometimes wonder if people shoot it intentionally. It blinds you so badly.

i meant the anti-personal grenade launchers on the Tiger H1.

Are all SPAAs, light tanks, mediums, etc. able to pen an angled Tiger I? No. Therefore, barrel breaking is a necessary game mechanic.

So every single thing any vehicles encounters should be able to pen it? What about the things you face in a full uptier? I don’t think you thought that comment through. You do have to move to pen other vehicles sometimes you do know that right? I take it you have played GRB?

Destroying barrels should be far more consistent than it is rn imo.

All vehicles need to have an option of surviving an engagement, and without barrel breaking, all SPAAs, most light tanks, and some medium and heavy tanks would not be able to do so. So yes, I have thought my comment through.

Eddie, I get your frustration here but I think you are looking to integrate realism into the wrong part of the game.

The reason tanks didn’t shoot each other’s barrels in historical and present wars is a result of the scenarios in which tanks engaged one another.

In gunnery school, you’re not taught to aim for weak spots, you put the sight on centre mass and keep slinging shells at the enemy vehicle until it’s turret pops off or it catches fire, assuming you didn’t need to disengage and retreat into cover.

The reason half of the issues in war thunder exist is due to the Arena based maps, and the fact that it’s a video game with no real life consequences.

I’ve seen the suggestions for introducing thr Sim Style gun sight but that is only a bandaid that will fall off after a few weeks or months, I play sim with a variety of vehicles and despite a few mishaps early on I have no issues compensating for the parralax error and can hit weakspots.

If you don’t want to get barreled/breached all the time compensate with your playstyle, Try not to stare directly at the enemy in between shots and who knows? You might ricochet a few shots of the side of the barrel, I do it. I learned to do it watching players that adapted to the issue your desrcibing.

Also, if you feel like a shell magnet, maybe find some cover? or play a bit more conservatively? try not to drive out in front of the entire enemy team?

Also, I wanted to ask. Lets say they reworked or removed barrel damage. What do you think the actual outcome would be, what impact do you think it would have on the game?

Matter of taste, I just have no time of his brand of suggestions for game improvements. Which ultimately boil down to him trying to argue that certain vehicles, or classes of vehicles deserve a handicap because he feels like he’s not getting the results he wants.

I liken it to a child that keeps breaking their toys by being too rough or abusing them and then is crying to their parents and older siblings to fix the problems that they themselves are largely responsible for creating.

I’d be more receptive to his Ideas if he was actually prepared to discuss them, maybe entertain an alternative point of view but the second he’s cornered or his arguments get refuted he just dismmisses your points or starts attacking you personally.

I have no sympathy for it and I look forward to reading about his future struggle stories and hardships in War Thunder

I don’t see that at all. He and I share similar views on that the game should have retained its immersive elements/historical elements. I think he goes a bit far sometime but overall I agree.

retained its immersive elements/historical elements.

I thoroughly disagree with the historical elements. I can completely sympathise with Eddie and yourself preferring the game how it used. It is my opinion that the cherry picking of vehicles, technology and matchmaking put forward by members of this community is purely a personal fantasy held by some, based on embelished historical accounts. It is also my opinion that War Thunder has absolutely no obligation to anyone, to try recreate these personal fanatasies. I think it is intellectually dishonest to attempt to use cherry picked historical accounts as support in the endeavour to manipulate a game and curry favour with likeminded individuals.

I don’t have much time for him because he doesn’t act like he has any respect for the game, the development, the effort. In other topics he’s actively contemptuous of the direction of the game and waxes poetic about his noble vision of an excellent game, if only they would just listen to him

It’s time this silly mechanic was removed. Just shooting out somebody’s gun every time in what is meant to be an exchange of fire is just ridiculous on a game called Realistic Ground Battles.

Is this the best Gaijin can do in 2024 ? Do other tank games suffer from the same silly idea of shattering a gun barrel form the end on ,from half a mile away? Is this the only way the game can achieve balance? I’m not entirely against it but it needs dialing back massively.

Tell me how wrong I am and why other wise I shall resort to alcohol.

As seen above, we’ve got the contempt for the game, the appeal to realism, the complaint about a game mechanic that he’s annoyed about today and then despite asking for feedback, dismisses anyone that disagrees with him. Yeah he’s kinda interesting and yeah he’s probably a nice person, but I’m going to roll my eyes whenever he pull’s his typical nonsense and I don’t care who knows it.

We have already done the “Skill issue” line and as I have said ,you are assuming we are always fifty feet apart and as I have said ,it makes no difference if you are a thousand meters apart or covered on bushes in the forest ,you get the boring breach shot so often it becomes a joke.It feels so fake and scripted.

If and enemy is near then its a case of "OH Tiger ,shoot the barrel ,Tiger finished " Fine but if that is the case why bother playing one when you know what will happen?

You can tie that in to all the Tiger is hugely disappointing posts we have had no here over the years.

I’m simply saying dial it back ffs .Playing Germany at Mid BR is a joke now. The game ,yest its a game not a sim, is simply no fun anymore. It is another example of Gaijin ruining the point of their own vehicles and game.

what are you referring to, specifically?

none of this makes sense until I know what you’re referring to specifically

Who knows? This guy speaks in riddles and rhymes

More baffling poetry : )

I used to think 5.7 as it was before the raise to 6BR was the pinnacle for War Thunder WW2 and the best BR level in the game .Now that tier is full of late cold war Artillery Spam and constant breach/Barrel take outs and not fun anymore.Just kind of pointless and senseless and now mixed with a lack of maps where you can utilize the strength up high tier WW2 tanks of any nation including those who use the M18.

Lukav can use all the flowery language he wants but it does not alter the fact that for some reason(and im not saying 100% its my reasons) the game at 6BR has taken a nose dive and the Panthers and Tiger are no fun to play anymore and fun not realism of history is what the game is about. It a game but it was a game that had a nice balance of real and silly. It was daft without you noticing too much.
