I’ve told everyone how ADATS beats the pantsir in taking out helicopters. see →
pantsir missiles expel smoke in the first seconds of their flight. there’s also a tracer present. as soon as the pantsir fires, its location is exposed. also, big target, slow to accelerate, big turret.
you don’t know how much I would love it if russia traded the pantsir for adats with UK and USA. it would be much more fun; that’s why I find USSRvUSSR matches exciting. anyway, I don’t think apaches are worth playing, but then again so are the helicopters without vikhrs/atakas. boring
and? you know that MAWS exist in top tier heli right? you listen to it and take action no matter you see missile or not
meanwhile pantsir it takes anything with MAWS or advanced RWR like Rafale and Eurofighter to able to detect it (most don’t)
lol if that can happen i’m sure you’ll regret it later
what next to you? Stromer HVM are best anti heli because it can’t be detonated by poxy fuse and kill heli outright and don’t ping on RWR because of passive radar?
the late march tracer removal has made it the best tool for helicopters, but removed its efficiency against planes (which is why some of them are now asking for the tracer to be brought back). in all honesty, I find the “best fox3 spammer and best heli spaa” combo very deadly. I would greet the tracer (unlikely to happen) with great joy.
It does not matter if an RWR can detect SPAA or not for the following reason: You should be assuming you’re always being tracked while playing CAS to begin with.
SPAA have had undetectable tracking in War Thunder since at least 2019.
you’re mistaking the action here. I understand you as a defense-oriented helicopter player; someone who plays it safe. I used to engage in far more erratic and risky (but paying) ways…
even before the tracer removal, the adats was the best tool against helicopters (the difference just got 10x bigger) because of the lack of smoke (now, that one swedish spaa also has a smokeless missile, but that one flies far too slow) in addition with great speed and power (and proxy, but that’s rudimentary).
in a lot of matches, I could fly high and instantly counter any spaa: I had to turn off hud as soon as I got the missile warning, and look at the battlefield in search of a tiny red tracer (adats, stormer) or white smoke. with every spaa except the stormer I would just fight the war of attrition (against the stormer I would just dodge and retreat, just like IRL).
I hope you can see how that tactic is not possible against the USA now.
and again. Only barely. With Helis barely vulnerable to any and all SPAA (heck I usually just use the Stormer HVM at top tier if I need to deal with a heli rather than the ADATS) its a small use case.
What is needed is Pantsir level SPAA for dealing with fixed wing CAS. The 7km range ADATS does nothing against a 30km range KH-38
notice I said “paying”. this means that with the march adats buff, this very deadly playstyle was rendered ineffective due to the inability to detect the adats in time. basically what I said earlier about not being able to retaliate in time. every SPAA reveals its position after firing except the ADATS, and for this reason, even playing defensively neuters most of my impact (as soon as I pop out of cover again, the adats would fire at me and I wouldn’t have time to find it)
basically the adats is so good against helicopters, it literally pins them into cover and forces them to play a style where you wait for someone else to kill the ADATS. do i have to explain how much less impactful it makes the helicopters?
I do not consider your position on this as serious. I just described how it makes all the difference in the world, haha
with one cap, the american can spawn a great missile slinger. with a cap and a kill, they can spawn a very decent fox3 slinger (an okay flight model and an array of the best fox3 missiles)
