That is a thing for all armor at 8.7.
The Chieftains are servicable 8.7. They would easily be one of the better 8.3 and it wouldn’t be particularly close besides the Olifant.

Though Israel does have a lot of competitive vehicles. The Sabra, Gal Batash, Magach 7C, Magach 6B, Magach Hydra, Magach 5, all the merkavas, and now the 2HEL are all pretty competitive.

I think the 7.5s reload makes them mediocre / bad at 8.7. The APDS round is not that much better than most 105mm APDS at that BR, and pretty much equivalent or worse to the darts at that BR too.
So, yes, they are servicable at 8.7, but I wouldn’t say they’d be that strong at 8.3 either (though I’m not arguing that they should go down).

I guess it really dependsMost Merkavas are all at best middle of the pack at best, with the only exception maybe being the Mk.2D.

In isolation I wouldn’t have a problem with the Chieftains moving down to 8.3, but there are also already other 8.7s like the T-62 and AMX-30B2s that are considerably worse and/or far less forgiving to play.
Also the Chieftains being the same BR as the T-55A is lowkey hilariously unbalanced. However we can’t move the T-55A down to 8.0 at the same time for obvious reasons as well.

9.0-10.0 is probably the healthiest BR range in the game because 8.X get outclassed significantly by better darts, armor, and mobility, meanwhile 9.X can still hold their own perfectly fine against 10.X.
Moving the 8.7 meta to 9.X will make already very strong vehicles stronger.

Russian bias is OUT. 8.7 American bias is IN. Because how in the actual fuck is the t58 still 8.7. It has some of the dumbest voulmetric in the entire game, a hesh round that kills you instantly by shooting your tracks, a very good heat round for if that hesh round ever gets addressed, a rangefinder, and a 2.5 second reload. It’s a genuinely unreasonable vehicle to play against and nothing of value would be lost if it got straight deleted. Move the fucking thing to 10.0 immediately. if this gets community flagged again whoever does it is a t58 player confirmed
T58 is only strong when it sits, when it’s on the move it is some of the most vulnerable crap at 8.7. I don’t have it yet but it is a food for object 279, I only remember I got killed by it once since the release and even worse it was when I already got disabled. Anything with darts and stabilizer will kill it, but don’t aim at the sleeve on the turret as that part can even stop dm33.

It’s not because of that but because it’s just a worse T-55A at higher BR. Something like Object 122TM with same ammo and reload literally is fine at 8.7 cause it has better mobility, better armor, fake LRF it never had and a nice bonus of ATGMs you use once in a while.
Object 122TM actually deserves 8.7
Object 435 should be 8.7 and T-62 should just be same BR as T-55A and preferably have a modification for 1972 T-62 just to have HMG.

Its quite literally fine at 8.3. In fact other than DM23 it shines at nothing else. What you propose is already done in STRV104 and that feels like way shittier Olifant, since well it’s just ERA that you never need that makes it 8.7

Well, the Merkava Mk.1 is decent and I think it’s competitive enough at 9.3.
The Merkava Mk.1B is good at 9.7 but is overshadowed by the Merkava Mk.2B. I think it’s pretty competitive at that BR.
The Merkava Mk.2B is at 9.7 and is basically a lower BR Merkava MK.2D but without the extra turret armour and no DM63 (but DM33 is basically just as good anyways). It’s very competitive at 9.7.
The Merkava Mk.3 B / C / D / Ra’am Sagol are all pretty good at 11.3, and I’d say they’re competitive at that BR. The only thing at 11.3 that I’d rather take over them would be the IPM1.
The Merkava Mk.4B at 12.3 is also very good. Again, the only thing I’d really take over it would be the 12.0 Abrams and, in some cases, the Leopard 2A5.
The Merkava Mk.4M at 12.7 is good but it used to be better (back when it other nations barely had APS, when it had no turret basket). I think it’s still quite competitive at 12.7 though.

I think it’s more or less the T58 player.
Even at full speed, I can mess up a shot and still disable a tank.
Usually I’ll just hit my shot and kill them anyways.
But lol, the 279 is just food for the T58, I have never died to a 279 in my T58, they non pen then my shells just decimate their crew.
T-62M-1 (2022) has a gen 2 thermal.

If I am thinking of the right T-62M-1 that T-62M-1 had gen 3 and much more powerful engine than the one in game.
Maybe they could add it to 9.3, however it would just be kinda ass, as any other slow MBT at 9.3.
Maybe if Gaijin knew specifics for last developed 3BM36 shell it would be nice, but without it nah.

If you cant kill the t58 in your object railgun then that’s the biggest skill issues on the forum.
Slow, massive silhouette, no composite, no ERA, no APDS, no LRF, no thermals, no stabilizer, and all at a BR where speed and stabilizer is the meta.
