Ground Vehicles **PROPOSED** RB battle rating changes

It would benefit me as well, as a person. No more getting sniped in my spawn on spaceport or not being able to see a goddamn thing on bad weather low cloud cover white rock

If the VK stays at 5.0 then the Comet needs to come down. They’re very similar machines.

Pz.4 H has not even close to the same mobility as the Vk30

You can get sniped out of pretty much every spawn.

Fundamentally gaijin needs to fix spawncamping.

Either:

Severely reduce the rewards from spawn kills
Or
Add unkillable AI to start engaging if the enemy is close to the spawn bubble.

Which is why it’s at 5.0 and not 3.3 (like where the Wolverines / Achilles are).

And yet the Breda 90/53 is mediocre at best at its own BR, and that is why it sits at 4.0 rather than at any higher BR.

There are better tanks at 5.0, 5.3, and 5.7 than the VK 3002.

The only thing the Vk 3002 has in common with the M10s is a slow turret rotation. It is 100% deserving of 5.7.

Yes, even having every single detriment known to tank kind, it still performs well just off of speed and firepower alone.

There might be tanks which can get more kills if tryharded in (e.g T-34-85 and 76 Shermans) however they’re overall weaker in a 1v1 engagement, and can be reasonably countered by lower tier vehicle of comparable skill.

It’s an Achilles with better acceleration, better post-pen damage, higher top speed, access to smoke grenades, is not open-top, has ~140mm UFP armour and ~100mm of turret armour.
It loses the 6.7s reload speed, 50.cal, and -10 degrees of gun depression.
A whole 1.7 BR difference for that makes sense. ~2.4 BR difference is unreasonable.

At the end of the day, anything >5.0 eats it alive, and its firepower becomes meaningless when you realise that most maps are CQC, where gun handling is extremely important (especially if you don’t have any armour).

The M36 GMC is a much better vehicle than the VK 3002. So unless you are planning on moving up the M36s too, it does not make any sense to move up the VK 3002 to 5.3, let alone 5.7.

I wouldn’t say well. The only reason why its stats are anywhere near good is because only competent players have it and use it. That, and people don’t know what HE is for some reason.

That’s completely wrong.
VK 3002 is a horrible 1v1 tank unless you are talking about long-range engagements.
The 76 Shermans / T-34-85s are some of the best when it comes to 1v1ing.

Not really? Name one.

M36 is roughly equal being slower, and being susceptible to strafing, HE, and auto cannons, in exchange for better turret rotation.

Most players use AP as their main shell because HE can only kill a small number of targets.

The 76 Shermans and T-34-85s are good for aggressive CQC pushes. The Vk 3002 can fulfill the role of either a light tank or a heavy tank when it needs to be.

An M24 has far better chances against an M4A1 (76) than against a Vk 3002.

Tons of maps that have lumpy terrain and hills.
For every city map like (cargo port, advance to the Rhine, Poland, Abandoned factory ) you have lumpy maps like (Berlin, Stalingrad, Vietnam, Jungle, Finland, Frozen Pass, Mozdok, Ash River)

This is a VK30 in a CQC map played on Alaska.

I brawled the whole time.

I’ve almost doubled my KDr with it.
Started today with a 1.3. Now I’m at a 2.02… while brawling the entire time and with most matches being 5.7

I think the issue is most people are just uncreative. They think “brawling” means treating the Vk 3002 like a T-34-85, and don’t (or can’t) change their approach to brawling to properly suit the Vk. Something similar happens with Fw 190s. Most people think they’re bad at dogfighting because their idea of a dogfight is holding [S] in a Yak-3.

I rarely agree with you, but this is 100% true for a lot of people in general, regardless of the vehicle in question.

For example at top tier a lot of people have convinced themselfs that the Abrams is a bad brawler and the T-90M is a good brawler, while in reality the Abrams is an incredible brawler while the T-90M is a mediocre brawler.

7km/h worse top speed but much better acceleration.

Yes, but you should always have at least a couple as a secondary at these BRs.

It can’t fulfill the heavy tank role at any BR besides a full downtier / 0.7 BR downtier.

Eh. It’s situational. The M24 would struggle a lot more against the VK 3002 at long ranges, but the M24 can outmanuever the VK3002 at close range.

In Berlin, there’s a city part of the map that you can contest.
Same with Vietnam.

Stalingrad / Jungle / Finland / Frozen Pass / Mozdok / Ash River I agree that having bad gun depression is bad in pretty much every part of those maps.
I would say USSR would benefit a lot from choosing maps but not to the same extent as snipers.
There’s only so many good sniping spots in each map of low tier War Thunder…

I’m not saying it’s impossible to do well in it in those kind of situations, but it’s definitely not its strong suit.
Let us remind ourselves that there’s the KV-85 with a 7.0s reload 85mm that can UFP it with ease, has much better reverse speed, and better turret rotation speed.

I mean… it’s a lot tankier than people think. I was surviving / bouncing 85mms and so on pretty commonly.

The long 76mm was surprisingly more difficult to bounce but was still doable.

But bouncing an M4A4 SA50 with the minimum of 180 pen was… impressive to say the least.

Suffice to say those tanks mainly exist at 5.3 and 5.7 anyways in which from the matches I played:

30% were full downtiers (5.0)
35% were 5.3 matches
15% were 5.7 matches
20% were 6.0 matches

This is pretty close percentage wise without being exactly precise of the matches we got.

In total 65% of matches were against tanks that struggled to pen the VK unless they were a tank destroyer, and even then they didn’t fair well.

5.7 matches weren’t too bad to play either.
6.0 made me actually have to strategize a tiny bit.

But it still reinforces my point that it should be a 5.3 bare minimum.

Significantly faster*

Fixed that for you.

VK 3002 has between 10mm - 16mm roof armour, it’s not all that safe protection from top-down strafing attacks either.

And 50. cal.
And better gun depression.
And faster reload.
And optics.
And post-pen damage.
And forwards & backwards hull traverse.
And acceleration.
And reverse, even if just by a little.
And smoke shells.

My counterpoint would be that there are a bunch of other 5.0s that are just as good, if not better.
The KV-85 / M4A1 (76) are just better suited for CQC than the VK3002.

The armour can be trolly, yes, but I wouldn’t rely on it.
Any somewhat competent player would just shoot the weak turret armour or UFP it if it’s unangled.

Vk30 armor should be so weak than any long 76 / 85mm should blow through it easily.

M4a1 (76) is better in reload and its stab, weaker in armor.

Kv-85 has weaker gun depression and likely reload. (Can’t check right this second)

But I don’t ever remember liking the KV-85, m4 was decent.

But the king of firepower is for sure the VK. Combine in with all its secondary factors, and I find it a bit strange that it’s 5.0

Yes it’s reverse is weak, same with the M4. Kv at least has a good reverse gear.

I do disagree a bit that they’ll all “just as good” because they all play a tad bit differently, although you can do any of the roles you want… maybe the exception is the Kv-85 for long range sniping due to lack of depression.
