That’s not how it works. The KV-220 is inherently better in downtier because it’s much more difficult to kill than a T-34-85, while the T-34-85 gives more consistent performance in both up and downtiers.
A more mobile tank has a better chance to kill a better armored opponent by getting to its side than a less mobile tank.
But even then it’s often a trade-off between survivability and risk and reward.
The KV-220 simply outperforms the T-34-85 completely at 5.7.
Ok I had to go boot up the game because you genuinely made me wonder if I was getting something confused here. The KV-220 is rare because its an event vehicle from nine years ago, and nobody is really willing to purchase one as its no longer a premium thats good to grind the tree out due to its placement, it has nothing to do with the performance of the tank itself.
Lets break this down against.
Gun- You have an 85mm cannon using ABHEBC this give you better gun performance than found on the Jumbo, but slightly worse performance than the Tiger which comes down to a 13mm difference and 1mm difference on sloped armor against the 88mm the tiger at 5.7 has. You maintain a higher explosive mass than the 75 round but slightly less than the tiger and 90mm of the T1E1, in which the T1E1’s gun out performs you marginally all around.
Armor- You have the best armor out of all of these tanks in hull armor you have slightly more armor than the tiger with a much smaller area to hit, but it has a 30 degree slope and any amount of angling becomes much much more effective than the tigers armor, The jumbo is in a similiar situation as you armor wise, however you enjoy better protection than any of the other tanks on the side and rear as well as the turret face in which you enjoy a massively well protected turret, with it having well over 300mm of protection if its even slightly angeled. The T1E1 has no armor. Your armor profile in this tank is just massively better than the others. You also dont have any particularly large weak spots that can be taken advantage of like the jumbo’s machine gun port.
Mobility- You have probably equal mobility if not slightly worse mobility than the Jumbo, however you are much much better off than either the T1E1 or the tiger 1.
Overall you are just better than all of these tanks, you enjoy the best armor layout amongst them, the second best gun (the tigers round and this thing are interchangeable really on damage especially since you’re often seeing angled plates which btw the kv-220 round can pen a jumbos front plate and the tiger cant) amongst them, and pretty much the best mobility amongst them. All of the other tanks suffer a draw back you do not. The tiger one has a good gun but shoddy armor and poor mobility, the T1E1 once again a great gun but terrible mobility an awful frame to be working on and no armor at all for a heavy tank, the jumbo has decent frontal armor and similar mobility to you but has a gun that is the equivalent of throwing a wet napkin at somebody.
You essentially get all of the good sides of these tanks with a lack of gun depression being your only real downside that’s why you are a slightly higher BR than all of them you’re are just an objectively better tank them all of them because you perform almost equal to their strongest attribute but don’t have the downside they do to off balance that strong suite.
I don’t think that it does. I think they are rather equal if anything. One trades armor for speed and vice versa. They have the same gun, and again, for having two loaders in the KV-220 they strangely have the same reload…
Survivability means nothing when you can’t survive a hit anyways, the KV-220 is consistently killed by fuel explosions (odd considering how difficult it is to make diesel explode) and the ammo getting lightly breezed by any spall. I can’t recall a time where I was penetrated in the KV-220 and lived.
You are correct only in the fact the Kv-220 is a jack of all trades.
Tiger 1: has highest forward mobility (27.9 mph), best APHE HE mass, and better frontal turret armor. Smoke launchers, and -8.0 gun depression.
M4A3E2 aka jumbo: by far the best turret armor is 5.7, a snappy 5.0 sec reload, and good frontal hull armor, with a .50 cal HMG. Smoke shells, and -10 gun depression
T1E1: Best mobility forwards and backwards, with the strongest gun, and a 6 man crew count, with a decent auxiliary 37mm, and 3x .50 cal machine guns. This also has some very good troll spots that can eat big rounds, perhaps not the most consistent, but it’s saved me aplenty. The 90mm also does very strange things are goes through armor it likely shouldn’t. also has smoke shells, and -10 gun depression
IS-1: being a worse jack of all trades in all regards except mobility, it’s amazing this has stayed at 5.7 given how weak its turret is, especially the commanders hatch typically one tapping the whole tank.
KV-220: best side hull armor, highest hp/t, also is harder to turn than any other tank at 5.7 (only being very marginally higher than the T1E1, but going 2 mph slower forward). Max turret speed: 12.0° deg a sec, matching that of a Tiger H1. Being the worst. -6 gun depression
Now compare the KV-220 to heavy tanks of its br:
Black Prince: 5.5 sec reload, 1.9 secs faster, APDS, and Strong APCBC, better frontal turret & Hull armor with no weakspots, unless your really tall then apparently it’s and easy roof shot according to ULQ. Only 11.2 mph forward speed. 17.0° a sec max turret traverse, and -10 gun depression. Lower profile.
Tiger E: same as previous Tiger, buff to turret traverse, better commanders hatch.
In summary the worst 6.0 tank is the Heavy tank no.6 because of the lack of smoke launchers, and the un-usable ones on the hull blocking gun depression, and no add on armor like the Tigris, or the Tiger ost / west.
Followed by the KV-220, which suffers from the same kind of thing the KV-1E suffers from, its armor being its balancing factor, which was good in its previous br, but now has become bad thanks to its br movement.
All in all, KV-220 & Heavy Tank no.6 belong at 5.7
They both have the characteristics of 5.7 material vehicles.
Maybe the heavy tank can go down but once again you are comparing just individual stats from one tank and saying its better than the kv 220 which by the way absolutely has better face armor than a tiger lmao, rather than the fact the kv 220 consistently out performs the others in every metric except the one thing they excel at and the tank has plenty of survivability. Also diesel fun fact when hit with things like idk an anti tank shell tends to explode.
you should add a br change for the amx 30b2 and the brenus, since the brenus is straight up better at the same br. Same for the type 59, type 69 and ztz59a since I consider both to be just a better type 59 at the same br
