Ground arcade air radar distance

Why does the air radar view for ground arcade show your air target as close and pursuers as further away when in fact they are almost the same distance. You spawn in CAP and you are chasing the strike plane or bomber and you think you are going to safely close the distance in time based on the radar view but you free view behind you and the pursuers are on you closer than it shows in radar.

when you experience this issue does the green text above your radar say “PDV SRC”?

The small air-event display may be presenting relative direction and a compressed/non-linear range rather than a to-scale tactical radar. That can make two pursuers with similar real distances appear more separated, especially when one is above/below or outside the display’s reference plane.

To determine whether it is actually wrong, use a server replay and record the numeric distance from your aircraft to the bomber and to each pursuer at the same timestamp. Compare those values with their marker positions on the display during several events. If the ordering is reversed or the visual spacing changes inconsistently while the measured ranges remain stable, capture that exact sequence for a bug report. A proposal for numeric range labels or clearer scale rings would also solve the practical problem even if the current display is functioning as designed.
