SPECTRA isn’t just (a) sensor, its all of them, from the RWR, laser, 360 IR MAWS, TV, Radar, everything
So that one single pop up on the RWR is now being checked by everything, where it’s focused upon
Much easier to find something when you’ve narrowed it down to one small spot 60km away, no matter the radar (Again, F-22 is made for X-Band, a choice of scan, but many operate within different bands for acquiring a firing solution)
Not only that, but RWR on the Rafale provides a firing solution for the MICA
RWR is the only one with sufficient range to possibly notice a 60km shot. and its not like the stealth just disappears, it will still have a notable advantage in RCS due to shape, and the fact that its weapons are internally carried.
Yeah and that is equally stupid. No conclusion can be drawn at all about the F-22 vs Rafale training performances until we (hopefully one day) get more results published.
Although it is funny watching fanboys of different aircraft fight here.
The IR MAWS of the Rafale can detect a missile from 27km away. F-22 is much larger and hotter than a missile. We don’t know the exact range of a Rafale, but 30+km is already enough to be defended from the NEZ
The 60km shot will just not accomplish anything against the Rafale, its forced to move in closer
But yes, it is? Do you assume F-22 just disobeys the laws of thermodynamics all of the sudden? Its massive and obvious exhaust plume is noticeable from IR sensors from further away? Because that’s how IR signatures have always worked.
Raptor isnt multirole. Also in general rafale is better. Cheaper to buy, run and maintain + multirole. But as fsr as air superiority, the raptor still dominates and will continue to dominate as long as nothing better comes around.
Its limited by internal weapons only (only amraams ive ever seen on external pylons) really cant justify using it for ground strike role when f15, f18e, f16 and f35 exist.
