Good premium jets for base bombing? (Also, tailsman alternatives?)

Hello and Merry Christmas everyone! Since there is the sales of GE (tailsman) and upcoming Premium Packs (what goes on sale is unknown), I am making this thread to help people like myself, to choose their powerful bombers. ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US !!

I have 300$, which is enough to purchase the premium jets for nations that I lack. I currently have:

GER - Tornado IDS

China - J-7D

Italy - AMX A-1A

So there’s USA, USSR, Great Britain, Japan, France, Sweden, and Israel jets that I am missing on. That equalizes to 7 jets that I am looking to buy. They cost roughly 32$ USD in my currenency.

The problem is, I noticed that lots of Rank 7 premiums aren’t that unique, and they’re expensive. For US tree, I already have many rank 7 jets and F-4S isn’t really too different to F-4J. It would be much cheaper for me to just tailsman them, especially when considering that not all jet packs would be on sale.

I would apperciate if you can give me comments on these aircrafts based on my Likes and Playstyle, and if there are better tech tree alternatives (cough J35XS).

The vehicles I have set in mind are:

F-4S or tailsman F-4J or F-4E

MiG-23ML

F-4J(UNK)

F-4EJ ADTW or tailsman F-4EJ Kai

Mirage F1C-200

J-35XS

Kfir Canard

My playstyle

I am primary bomber, second missile. If there is a choice between bombing or fighting (unless the missiles are OP) I would pick bombing. That does not mean I exclusively bomb (unless the plane limits that option, such as J-7D), I actually prefer planes where you can do both of these things.

I have the F-14 IRIAF and have 351+ battles in it, but the success in bombing is extremely low, because F-14 has unfavorable matchmaking that made it always see modern(ish) Fox 3 like AIM-120 and R-77. I would apperciate something with 12.3 BR or under, such as the F-4EJ Kai where I have much higher success in bombing, despite its inferior airframe (its RWR is good too).

My Likes

Fast in sea level, 1300 KMH +

Decent SARH missiles with PD radar

IRCCM missiles, such as Magic 2

Good RWR or TWS mode (so I can see which base is heavily contested and avoid them)

BR under 12.7 (Get me out of AMRAAM hell!!!)

Has at least enough payload to destroy one base (though not strictly required)

Talisman the F-4J.

MiG-23 is overall not that good now. However Su-25K prints SL and RP and can also bomb bases.

F-4JUNK can bomb bases but that’s about all it can do. If you are set on bombing get it but otherwise I feel like the MiG-21 Bison is better.

EJ Kai is overall a better plane so I would talisman that if you have it. If you are willing to do air combat instead of bombing bases F-5E FCU (squadron vehicle) is one of the most busted planes in the game right now. ADTW is underwhelming and I would recommend against it.

Mirage F1C-200 has 2 Magic 2s which are basically free kills at this BR if you know to position yourself. As for bombing it’s not that great since most other bombers are faster than it and will beat you to the bases.

J-35XS can’t bomb. It’s an overall sad plane. Premium Viggen isn’t much better either to be honest. Grinding Sweden is pain overall. I am not sure what to recommend here.

I haven’t tried bombing in the Mirage 3/5 so I can’t say how good it would perform there and the Kfir Canard gets a much worse missile to the Mirage 3E (which I have played) it’s hard for me to project how good it is. But since it’s the only Israeli premium you can’t really go wrong with it.

Need a bit of cold blood but you can easily bomb one base and get one kill with its missiles.

Only F-104S are faster than you in the base bombing, as it normally gets only 11.3. So its pretty much 1 base garanteed, if you get the correct loadout.

It turns like a Dorito but its enginer is unholy, the Mirage airframe barelly handles the engine power.

It is a delicious premium and its my favorite plane to play at me moment. Also, its the only decent option in the Israely tech tree.

Just have in mind that tomorrow start the Kafir event, which you can get a different variant for free. So if you are not planing to grind the Baraks or F-15 and just want high tier plane to use amongst tanks, I would recommend just do the event one. (because its free)

All Phantoms are excellent base bombers; and I do as you do; after base-bombing, I still go to the fight with missiles, and the Phantoms are great in that sense too! They can carry a large array of air to air weapons AND base bombing ones without sacrifices.

So I would recommend to either purchase a Phantom or Talisman one (if available), depends on which tree you may like to grind.

For USA in particular, I’d opt to Talisman the F-4E over the F-4J or purchasing the F-4S.

F-4S @ 12.0 faces constant up tiers against some ARH slingers you don’t want to see, I have never flown the F-4J, but it has the same BR as the F-4S and would face those same up tiers. In my opinion, @ 11.3 the F-4E is very capable for grinding. You won’t get the same SL output as a premium, but you have already stated that isn’t a problem, so that’s the route I personally would go.

Just my opinion, others may see it differently.

You can simply buy talisman for one, which you prefer more. F-4E is easier to play, ngl.

I don’t think this is a good choice, it’s a fighter after all. Su-25K is more suitable for this.

Put a talisman on F-4EJ (not Kai), ADTW is a waste of money.

It is worthless, this jet is only usable for dogfight. The really good jet for this in Swedish tree is Saab 105G, but it’s rank V.

That’s a good jet that can base bomb. It’s fast, so you can easily bomb the base first.

The AV-8C works very well, it’s got great guns, pretty fast, great missiles, although it can only get one base using incendiaries. I’m pretty sure the AV-8A (the premium pack version) is identical in most regards.

It is a nice plane with good missiles for 9.3/9.7, a complete package with flares, high acceleration and speed (for a subsonic), bomb load and good missiles (for clubbing non flare planes)

So far to grind the remainder of the F-4F ICE (just got done with that) and EF-2000 I have been using a talismanned F-4F late, with a specific loadout of 6x 1000lb bombs and 4x Aim-9J while running approx 24 mins of fuel, this guarantees that I can beat everything besides F-104 TAF players to the base, while still remaining a capable dogfighter (low fuel phantoms should not be slept on) and enough gas left to re-arm for a second base run if you’re lucky.

Moving onto base bombing as a whole at the 10.0-12.0 BR range, it’s important not too be overzealous with your payloads, on paper bringing enough bombs to wipe 2 bases seems like an incredibly good deal but in practice you will always lag behind even the slowest supersonic base bombers (like A-5C) and will end up getting none at all on a normal RB map, or possibly 1 on an EC map, then comes fuel, it’s safe to bring between 60 and 85% of fuel (entirely dependent on fuel efficiency) for a single base + some dogfighting/furball trouncing later into the match, if you bring too little then you either have to sacrifice yourself in a headon or limp back to base without burner, posing for an easy target for opportunistic Draken/Mig-21/Phantom players to pounce on.

Moral of the story for efficient grinding is consistency and modesty, the more playtime invested into those two will result in rapid and high results, hope this helped :)

1 Are you grinding out the whole tree or need a boost to complete the tree?

Boost: Talisman

Grind whole Tree : Premium

2 Are you grinding for SL as well?

Yes: Premium

No: Talisman

Bonus Tip: Two bases destroyed with napalm is less than one base with bombs.

Yea bombing in Higher Tier matches is hard as over half the team is going for bases to get to top tier, and you can extend the match like in props by flying high and out of the way and wait for base re spawn as you will be hunted down and killed

They really need to redo maps for rank 5 and up for Air Rb

I mean there is literally no reason that there can’t be a base per player on the team, whether they bomb it or not is player preference but there should never be teamkilling over a base lmao, nothing warrants it tbh

Doesn’t matter at this BR, early game presence is key. The second a player carries bombs, he is weakening his team and himself.

Given the unrealistic RP costs and frankly ridiculous time to grind tech trees for the average player, bomb grinding is a necessary evil until Air RB is reworked to allow for more versatility towards strike aircraft and slower aircraft, currently it’s not viable to play as a pure fighter is you are concerned about efficiency so if you are willing to hamstring your own grind to benefit a team doing exactly the thing you aren’t, then you have entered a paradox of lesser RP rewards and still ending up with the same shitty teammates
