Give us bigger maps (Voting)

Good luck to the guys designing maps that cant be bigger than 1x1 km but also prevent instant spawnkilling.

i mean just create maps where both teams spawn in the same place and get it over with, saves 5 years of map development time /s

i get thet ppl want and like small maps and quick action also because it feels like faster progression in the game but once you realize that after you have fully progressed this gameplay gets rather repetitive then what is it all for?

why not add or even think about an actual viable and playable alternative after 12 years?

@山_田_凉 claiming that players in the War Thunder community are trolls for wanting larger and/or diversity in maps.
LOL!

Feel like part of these players who want small maps are like those ipad kids watching tiktoks+instagram+YT Shorts burning all their brain with the instant fake feeling of reward.

Caring about the game and knowing how the game works are not the same thing.

Gaijin has flat out said (HERE) “Statistics of the bans and dislikes shows that it isn’t the case. At the top rank players like both - big and also compact maps and compact maps even more.” Smaller maps are more likely to not be banned, which means that a majority of player prefer the smaller maps compared to the larger ones, contrary to what you see on reddit and the forums. Larger maps are more random which makes it harder for newer players to learn and have fun on. I don’t speak for all players, but I personally don’t like shooting at pixels of a turret at 1 mile. The fast paced and interesting gameplay is what attracted me to this game from other games like world of tanks. Good maps have nothing to do with size but playability for both sides, this is much easier to balance if the map is smaller. Gaijin has found that most players are interested in the more modern vehicles so this is more directed at those ranks. However it would be hard to find someone who likes to drive a slow low br tank on maps like red desert or volo.

I have fun

Im getting really tired of people saying “go play arcade” whenever this topic is brought up. How about this you hop on hell let loose or play an arma mod if you want to larp as a IRL tank commander.

Yep people love small and loving playing tanks that not even suitable for small map after that they complain about tanks being weaks especially clickbait horde that wonder why their clickbait lost against Strv122 in CQC when it well know that is not smart thing to do
Sadly new generation of wt players are devolution type well most of them.

Nah post scriptum (called squad44 now) has best tank larp gameplay, very fun - much better then arma, hll & squad imo. But if your really looking to go full simulator and are happy to risk sometimes nearly dying of boredom larping then il2 is good too

So how does the game work in your eyes? 100m engagements in restrictive maps? How is this fun to you when modern tanks aren’t meant to function as lane crammers. This game started out with ww2 tanks and the maps made for it worked. They don’t work for modern tank gameplay. Not everything has to cater to you and on that note.

The fast paced and interesting gameplay is what attracted me to this game from other games like world of tanks.

This is literally what WoT is. Arcade is also fast. How about instead of asking me to “go larp” you play something that’s already on your preferred list of preferences instead of forcing others to play what you want. Also why are you tired of people giving you that answer when it’s what you want.

But actually, the majority…

This is hard cope. Most of the maps in the game are small, so differently designed and we don’t even have the statistics from 4 years ago. Gaijin should set up a vote because I feel this discussion’s vote would more or less reflect what would be the result of that. It doesn’t just come as what you prefer to play but it’s also a issue of balance. WW2 tanks play in maps that are relatively balanced for them because it’s also the kind of environments & distances they would counter irl. Imo they should increase the size of those too to allow for flankers instead of the restrictive bs but derailing. Modern tanks play terrible on these distances most of the time with issues of constant corner peeking, spawn camping, cramped rooms where weird and janky things happen like stuck tanks. There’s no room for flanking manouvers. Looking especially at Rhine. CAS issues.

This type of fast paced, no attention span requiring gameplay should be suited for arcade and players like you. The game hasn’t well transitioned into the modern era from it’s ww2 only days and for you to claim it’s meant to play like this is trashing at everyone who actually wants to see the state of things improve for the more refined modes.

There’s a reason lot of people enjoy lower tiers more and I’m wondering if that’s the reason something like pradesh is the most banned map. It’s the largest map at 7.7 where lot of tanks don’t have LRF. The layout is also pretty crap.

A lot of people seem to hate the grind and cry about how “slow” it is and how low the rewards are and thats more or less understandable. But the grind, researching and learning how to use new vehicles is, at least in long term from my experience the main reason why the game is interesting?

Once u have whole tech trees fully researched, vehicles spaded and all crews experted it gets quite repetitive simply because a lot of maps are very small with just a couple of really strong routes and spots so you’re catching yourself more often than not doing the same thing on the same maps over and over again

applying what you learned while grinding all these vehicles vs all these other enemy vehicles and learning what and when is best to do in a map layout that i was not used to in sim (because of layouts that very rarely show up in the rotation) were at least for me the most enjoyable moments because it actually felt like adapting and exploring something new and being creative with the tools this game gives you

Money for top-tier tanks or planes = Little grind
Little grind = little care for the full game experience
little care for the full game experience = toxic players

HAHHAHA Yes thats how it works. This is a video game not real life get out of these delusions quickly its not good for your mental health. You’re right gaijin does not have to cater to me specifically just me in the sense that im in the majority of people who prefer smaller maps. COPE more lmao.

According to you the game already “caters to people like me” so this is insane cope. Why would I leave when the game is how I like it mostly already. LMAO

yup proves my point above.

no they are fine you dont know how to play thats the issue

You’re mixing up “doctrine realism” and “technical realism”. War Thunder is only about the latter, not the former. That is to say, the only rules that really matter are these: What a thing can do, and what a thing can’t do.

But… they’re saying they like the current maps and you’re saying you don’t. How does it make any sense whatsoever for them to go play something else?

Cause doctrine is entirely subjective.
War Thunder allows for any and all doctrines to exist, which is realistic.
Picking one doctrine is unrealistic trash which is why the milsim genre is the worst in gaming.

Because things used to be better. Gaijin has been ruining maps with the red crayon of doom, and have also been arcadifying Air RB as well.

IIRC virtually every single notable map border change has been to the single-cap versions of maps… and it was always bizarre (borderline reportable as a bug, though wasn’t in a literal sense) that those had the same playable area as the three-cap version. It’s barely noteworthy, as no one should have been in those areas in the first place.

I can’t think of any Air RB changes in recent times that haven’t been positive (including the great ticket bleed changes this last patch).

Berlin, 3 cap variant.

I’m driving my paper mache for armour, zero reverse speed no stabilizer world war 2 british medium tank in a flank around the building near A (not reichstag)

On the west side? It’s been a while since I’ve played Berlin, but IIRC there’s a very obvious natural “line” where the “in-map” ruined buildings stop and you enter the “outside scenery” area, and I assume that’s where the zone is now?

thereish, yes. (found the old reddit post I made complaining about the ridiculousness of this)

I couldn’t go buildings because enemy had vision of it and the challenger dies in 1 hit to the frontal plate from a tiger. My options were “sit back and do nothing/risk a trade” or “try to drive around enemy sightlines and shoot them in the side.”

That’s about where I was thinking, I’m pretty sure. Would be easier with an in-match shot because I remember it being very striking in a visual sense.

But I’m not seeing an issue with you being in that situation. Through being outplayed or luck, you were caught between an enemy and the map border. That’s… very common in games, and if done intentionally a great move on their part.

Games are fundamentally digital sports (two evenly matched teams competing on a set “field”), and one doesn’t get to take the ball outside the field just because their other options are “don’t go forward” or “give it to the opposite team”.

The minimap indicated I have more than enough room to use that until it turned red when I crossed it.

Also, what else am I supposed to do in tanks that cannot fight frontally? These tanks must take the flanks .

It’s a similar issue that strict B&Z planes that need to climb and extend away experience in ARB with the current objective/match length design they did not suffer as badly.
