No, -1
Yeah I’m not really sure why, I mean it’s totally random how the teams are divided currently anyway so why not just get rid of it? The only thing I can figure is that people don’t like change. Even if it help balance out the game.
So basically instead of the best team winning it’s currently the best lineup and team faction that wins 95% of the time…
Better to have Realistic arcady with no faction and get another sim-ish Historical with the axis vs allies, nato vs pact
No.
A big part of the appeal of War Thunder is faction based fighting. Recruiting ages of military action between nations.
A large reason vehicles or nations do poorly has to do with player skill and mission design.
Player skill is very out of wack at ratings with popular premiums where new players enter the game without learning maps, mechanics, or having the lineups or combined arms.
Map and mission design heavily punishes or rewards certain vehicle types which is Gaijin’s responsibility to fix.
As I said before, the “Factions” are already completely random. there is no set list so im not sure what the appeal is… Any tanks can be on the same side or against each other on any given match.
Are you playing Arcade battles?
In Realistic battles each nation is placed on a side.
Not to mention the absolute horror of grinding through a tree with all of the nations combined into one.
No I play realistic, I know each nation is placed on a side but it’s completely random how they are picked and anyone in a squad can determine what nations they play with.
Mis-matching nations I’ve felt has caused longer queue times for the squads that have it.
It does but it works, we usually have one guy running Russia when we play top tier so we don’t have to deal with the su34 and pantsir. Or worry about getting stuck with 8 clickbait players.
I would prefer the exact opposite…MAKE FACTIONS PRESENT everywhere…including arcade…
I know it will mess with balance…but this is a game…and to ME it would be WAY MORE fun if each team represented some historical side on some realistic war…
It is rather easy in WW2…i admit not so much in more modern times…
AGAIN…i know it would WORSEN FAIRNESS…but i don’t care so much…players usually exaggerate the issues anyway…SKILL is actually the biggest factor…so lets make it fun for those that want to play an “historical-ish” game :)
Ok so Russia and China against everyone else? I’d take that but that’s never the case…
Why? You can choose to only play the Nation you want but you can not go from playing a rank V vehicle to another nations rank V vehicle without first having to grind the tech tree.
Minor nations also don’t have good lineups and when every match is now 4 random nations vs. 4 other random nations, it makes no sense to limit yourself to choosing vehicles from only one nation.
If I have three other nations on my team, why can’t I use those vehicles as well?
The limitation is that you have to choose vehicles before you go into battle.
I remember there was an event where you could play vehicles you didn’t even own, since you had to chose from a selection giving by the game, which changed with every respawn.
Which was actually pretty cool.
There’s a lot of potential in making the game more interesting and enjoyable then the way it’s currently structured.
It’s way to late for that.
Like every nations now has Sherman’s and the M44 on a bulldog chassis is fighting T-34s.
I personally would enjoy the game much more, if it had some more historical match ups and vehicles aren’t just balanced by their performance.
But hey, what can you do.
The game is now World of War Thunder, where time traveling tanks fight each other.
Captured tanks can make sense, as they would have markings to distinguish them, but fighting Japanese Zeros with a US Zero is kinda silly.
Oh well.
How it should be:
Arcade = World of War Tanks
Realistic = Like Sim but third person
Sim = Sim but the same planes don’t fight each other
When you play battlefield do you get every scout gun because you played assault? No of course not as it would encourage people to grind all content with only one loadout negating the whole point of anything else existing
I would play the game to win and not to grind guns.
Modern games are all about grinding and unlocking, sprinkled with loot boxes.
In Battlefield 2 you could unlock like 1 alternativ gun for your class but people would have played the game even without that.
Why do I play more vehicles I already spaded then vehicles I have to spade?
Because I play to win and not for some game mechanics that tries to make me feel happy for unlocking something.
Sure a grinding mechanic can have a point, since it forces you to play with vehicles you might not have been interested in or simply spent more time playing a vehicle, but grinding shouldn’t be the point of the game.
That we have to unlock every freaking vehicle, when there are like more than 5000, and then spade them to bring them to their max performance level is honestly a joke.
But hey, when the company can sell you a 60€ premium for every tech tree, I guess they won’t say no.
You do realise this wasn’t a suggestion about being able to spawn ‘anything’, it was about the teams being any combination like arcade is.
Why not?
You can be a little more creative with “what ifs”…lots of books with right wing takeovers and such…
Europe vs US (was farfectched until a few weeks ago :) ) (UK can be either side)
Germany fighting with russia after some “coup”
China vs Russia in the cold war (with other nations support whatever)
The point is more having NATIONS on each side…in modern vehicles you could make it flexible…more credible scenarios if players available…then move nations as needed…
For instance if lots of Russian players…make the standard Red vs World…if not…then move germany and/or japan. If lots of US players make them fight a coalition…move UK as needed…
If all hell breaks lose, simply add nations numbers and make two sides…
EDIT:
It would simply make “our” side have somewhat different equipment. As it is now, both sides have LOTS of “popular” equipment…or as i said on the old forum “Tigers Tigers everywhere” :)
now it looks even dumber because of sub tree
Leopard2 are everywhere in top tier nowadays
getting closer to WoT team day by day
THIS^^ is another issue…and i also think we have too many copy-paste vehicles…problem is lots of players like them and are finding pics of some captured or something vehicle to have it added to some tree they like…
Last one i saw was a King Tiger in US tree…
IMHO this should be much less than already is…or have some sort of “cost” taht made those vehicles much rarer…but i got shouted down on several discussions in forum…many players believe that if some nation used a vehicle for a test or a couple drives it is their right to have it in game!
EDIT:
As i play aecade and we have no factions this is actually a moot point…so i dont care much…BUT i would prefer FACTIONS and RARE captured/prototype vehicles…
