Germany 7.7-8.0 Opinions

Hello, so I’m about to get the M48A2 C, which will be my first Rank 5 for Germany, and I am curious, how does Germany perform in this BR? I’ve honestly heard mixed opinions on 7.7 as a whole, and would like to hear some people’s thoughts on it? I also would like to know how 8.0 is for Germany as I’m probably getting the Leopard 1 next, which is exciting.

I didn’t find 6.7 to be a very bad BR, despite many people saying they hated 6.7. And if Rank 5 is worse, can it really be that much worse? Do note that I am relatively new to the game (250-300 hours) and probably have very different opinions to people who have played other, worse nations than Germany. (Germany is the only Nation I main at the moment)
Just curious on some thoughts about 7.7 for Germany as I would at least like a heads up beforehand, thanks.

7.7 one of the best german lineups.

You have the wiesel, PZH2000 (the goat) and the marder.

But I prefer 8.0 so I can take my raketen, or my bmp1/better marder. Algong side the pzh2000

I like it, don’t depend on your team though, you’re going to lose a majority of matches.

Heavily map and team dependent; if played solo its mid to bad, if played with friend is bearable and can be fun.

To elaborate further:

Current 7.3/7.7 german lineup regarding researchable TT vehicles is pretty much straightforward, as in, there arent really that many choices.

Single medium with M48A2C (which gets smokes over its US and taiwan counterparts), and no less than three 20mm Rh202 armed vehicles - Marder A1- (gets TOWs), Luchs and Wiesel (both get DM63 AND thermals, IIRC lowest BR vehicles that get them).

Theres also the kanzerwagen, pardon, Panzerhaubitze 2000, whic is bane of my existence in that BR range since it was added.

So far so good, until you look into the nitty gritty details. Thats where the map and team dependency comes into play.

Single medium means no backup tank to fallback onto, unless you use backup or shill out for the KpzM47 - good tank in US TT, but not worth the price.

Unless you get Maus from anniversary, theres literally no heavy tank option, and even if you got Maus, due to its mobility issues its map and team dependent in a sense that everyone might be dead by the time you arrive to the battle - both your team (enjoy getting jumped by three Somuas) or enemy team (which now pushed even further and locked the enemy in the spawn).

Theres also slight issue that during and right after anniversary, Maus is literally spammed - everyone wants to play it, its Maus afterall. This leads to literal rat packs on maps such as Sands of Sinai, which are pain to deal with, or rat packs on maps like advance to rhine, which are even greater pain to deal with. Isolated Maus isnt a problem, but 8 of them sitting in a lane, pushing you? But I digress.

Then theres the kanzerwagen. Who wouldve guessed that putting 90s SPH on Leo2 chassis with LRF and relatively large derp HE at BR with 1950s tank that simply cannot match the targeting speed of LRF will make the more open maps literally unplayable for anything but autocannon lights, and make urban maps cancerous as theres no safe way to push Pzh2000 camping a corner; and if its driver didnt have lobotomy and is able to dodge your arty and you dont have flanking team mate, youre kinda boned. Oh well.

Then there are the 20mm Rh202 armed rats. Theyre fast, they have thermals, theyre annoying as hell when they perform track and barrel torture. But, the 20mm Rh202 doesnt actually have enough pen to deal with most of the tanks at its BR range from the side, so you can only be annoying, which is up to you if you find this a rewarding gameplay.

Marder at least gets Milans, but only 4 of them and theyre, well, Milans. Sometimes it feels like youre hitting your enemies with wet fart, which is far from optimal.

And then we get to the vehicles that ARENT in german 7.7 lineup. Namely dedicated SPAA. Sure, I already hear the pitchfork crowd saying “Akhually Wiesel and Luchs can supplement SPAA role” and I mean, sure. But Wiesel gets limited gun elevation (and its wiesel so you can literally mog the crew to death without ever firing a round) and Luchs, while better, still has single 20mm gun to use against planes. Compare that to Vulcan, VEAK and Yenisei which at least get a fire control radar (however bad it might be) or the Afghan shilka which can saturate the area with projectiles. But oh well, I guess SOME usable vehicle beats having none at all (looking at you, my 7.7 UK and FRA lineups). Germany also doesnt get a light tank/HEAT slinger at this BR which can be kinda limiting.

All n all i personally dont like 7.7 germany. UK, US, FRA and even russia get much less awkward lineups at this BR (hell, french 7.7 is a menace), so id advise you to skip it UNLESS you wanna play the kanzerwagen, and go for 8.0 instead (and even then kanzerwagen plays at 8.0 almost exactly the same).

Honestly its weird i used to hate it but i slowly began to love it. Been slowly fixing my KD in it, a lot of people dont shoot the cupola and get themselves aent back to the hanger, i keep the aphe but primarily heatfs(break in case if heavy tank rounds)

Switch to Leopard I line instead. The M48A2 C line (aka Tiger line) ends at BR 10.0.
As for performance, it’s not bad. There are lots of decent vehicles in that BR range and you can fill all 10 crew sloths if you want to.
There’s lots of light vehicles with autocannons and ATGM launchers at that range that you should be aware of and you can’t rely on armor as much as you could in 6.7. Apart from these, the gameplay isn’t so different than what you are used to.

Honestly the KPZ and Leo 2k are worth the grind. They are really fun and solid vehicles especially for the 9.x and 10.x lineup

PZH 2000 is OP and makes Germany a nightmare to go against, honestly, needs to go to 8.7 or just remove the laser rangefinder. The closest thing the US even has to it is the M60A2 and thats at 8.3, but from going against them germany does have some decent options at the br

M48 is ok I personally dont like it in uptiers same as the 7.7 marder(hvap has not pen at range). Pzh2000 is broken and siesel is also nice. The Maus is also pretty much br dependend and The cas(me262 ho229 and ar234) is quite good.

7.7 is pretty good, u got the maus (u should right? the event was just last week), pzh 2k, M48, marder + the wisel or the squadron 262 or ho 229 for cas. 8.0 is also fine ish with a lots of vehicle for the lineup but do expect constant uptier to 8.3+ due to Turm and Gepard spam.

7.7 and 8.0 are terrible BRs.

8.0 Germany has like a 35% WR.

i have a love hate relationship with 7.7-8.0 germany tbh, probably more down to how shitty the BRs are in the mid tiers now

The Marder is absolutely terrible

False, plus heretic comment.

Sorry for going off topic but I’m just curious. Why is the PzH2000 called a KanzerWagen?

That’s basically Germany at every BR though, great tanks, pack of turkeys for team mates.

only 4 Milans and a 20mm featherduster

why is this good exactly?

well the MILANs use it like an atgm carrier and the 20mm very good for anti-air (and maybe against rat tanks). In fact marder its better spaa than the wiesel.

7.7 is rather mid-underwhelming, especially if you don’t have the maus.

Pzh is great at large maps, but rather underwhelming on all others. M48 is rather mid, while all of the 20mm lights are pretty bad. It’s cool to have lrf and thermals, but it doesn’t compensate the fact that you can’t deal with most things even from the side. In case of marders you technically have ATGMs, but very little and they are hot garbage.

At 8.0 you get the Leo 1, better marder (still bad tho), raketenautomat and the first raketenjagdpanzer or however it was called.

I’d say it is a bit better since raketenautomat is one of the funniest rats in the game and Leo 1 is pretty solid, but the rest is not worth considering.

That says a lot about the nation. The rest of Germany just is not great

The third best howitzer. its alr ig
