the zoom when using this weapon on this plane (but I think also on similar ones) is excessive for the size of the maps in ground SB, it should have the possibility for game play purposes to be able to decrease the zoom in the TV view, because especially in the sim it is not easy with such an excessive magnification to identify the enemies, and to have a semblance of a decent view you have to move far away but it makes no sense as the rendering of the objects are not loaded, so such a magnification makes absolutely no sense high.
Are you talking about the minimum or maximum zoom?
You can set the mouse wheel to zoom and then adjust it to whatever you want
minimum zoom, I saw that it is not possible to set it while for other aircraft well press Z and the zoom increases and decreases, however with the F4-F it remains static at maximum magnification
I also tried with other planes and it allows me to decrease the zoom, but with the F4-F the camera remains stuck at maximum zoom without the possibility of adjusting it
Maybe you cant zoom the seeker in the AGM-65
probable but it’s a big nuisance, because it’s something very poorly evaluated, it has excessive magnification for the game maps, and to see well enough without probing the molecules of the ground you have to move away a lot but then it doesn’t render the targets, it’s a bit absurd like what.
Sadly this is probably correct, this is also why I prefer the lower zoom sights of the earlier 65A maverick or TV bombs (like the walleye or GBU-8). Though it comes at the cost of lower tracking range.
Only way to change how it is in-game is if you can find a figure for the magnification of the TV sight of the Maverick (either A or B would probably suffice). As of now, they are both A and B are correctly modelled after their real life (fixed) FOV of 5° and 2.5° respectively (roughly corresponding to 15x and 30x zoom in-game).
I mean it’s still way ahead of the built in sight of the IIR versions at least, which get the opposite problem of way too little zoom.
Yes, I know which ones you mean. what I’m saying is that in the end it’s a game and for the sake of gameplay that camera should also have the possibility of removing the zoom, if it can zoom that much, or they have to put the rendering from much further away, so as to be able to take advantage of all that zoom
Then it’s probably best that you use the map interest point designation while guesstimating where the enemy team might be. Unfortunately, the F-4F doesn’t have any other guided weaponry that you could use as an improvised TGP
I’m still trying to understand how it works in the SIM to designate something on the ground and how to see it and understand where I positioned the marker. For now I’m simply orienting myself by directing the aircraft towards the battlefield and setting the seeker’s lock, hoping it locks. well and then be able to visualize something in the area. I have the same problem in ARB sim when I have to bomb that I can never understand precisely where the bases that spawn around are, in maps with a lot of vegetation or if the base is located near other complexes. I also tried to set both the platoon ping button and the team designation button which is in the aircraft settings, but nothing appears on the sim if I press the button, I hope to find some tutorials on YouTube but it’s fewer and fewer people make videos thinking about all the mechanics that people might find difficult with the game
