General Japanese & Thai Ground Forces Discussion HQ

I do hope they add the Ukrainian and Chinese stuff like the VT-4 and VN-1 and dont lock them behind a paywall/event

IMO the T-84 BM Oplot-T is the most unique and important addition Thailand could bring to the table, followed by Stingray and lower-mid tier stuff, especially their own developments like Porborkhor 105 Attajhon and Type 76 (exclusive to Thailand).
While the other light and medium tanks, as well as BTRs could finally fill gaps, which have been a problem for years.

What could we likely expect from the Oplot? T-80UD with better thermals? Is there anything else? I am not really all that knowledgable in soviet-style tanks.

Pretty much, but very different armour.

Worse or better?

Uh I would say overall better or compareable, but useless once ERA layers are taken off.

Can’t forget an akcual reverse speed

Fun fact: Technical moderators are literally independent fron gaijin. Just like the other moderator positions they’re volunteers. So uh, yeah.

There is not point to play Type 81 (c) at 11.7, what they can do is so little to the matches, is just like bringing a dagger into a sword fight

I seconds this. I stopped using it ever since it was moved to 11.7, its unplayable there.

Solid choice

Looking back at thai VT-4, I caught myself on the idea of whether this tank is end-of-the-line material. I mean, according to suggestion, it gets worse engine (1200hp vs 1300hp) and theoretically worse ERA from visual examination (FY-2 vs FY-4) than VT-4A1 while also not having an APS. I don’t know whether Thais have more powerful DTC10-125 (125-III) APFSDS in service or less powerful export BTA4 (125-II), which would also affect total efficiency and BR.

Not pointing at anything, but if thai ground forces are to come to the game, maybe VT-4 should be a… premium material for 11.7 with its downgardes just like T-80U-E1?

At the end of the day, it is up to devs to manipulate things, but making it a premium option might also reduce the beloved controversy around chinese vehicles in japanese tt (I’d also like Type 90 “Fuji” be removed from sales, but that shall be a different discussion)

It’s been well known for a long time a Thai VT-4 wouldn’t be 12.0, probably more like 11.0/11.3, the capstone of a Thai ground would probably be the Oplot-T, depending on ammunition.

Isn’t a matter of China not getting it. China could get it directly without Pakistan or any third party nation.

It’s the matter of Japan getting it. I don’t mind it personally, but that’s the ‘reason against it’.

Tbh the vt4 legit is kinda mid already its gonna be worse with the possible addition of the thai one

It’ll make such a good addition to my 7.3 lineup.

Gaijin been sleeping on these for too long now. I understand it’s not as easy as giving France some copypasta Leos, but come on.

2nd gen thermals, 32 kilometer per hour reverse speed, Varta soft kill APS (Ukrainian produced Shtora), Duplet-2M ERA (would be the best in the game), and would probably use Chinese improved APFSDS.

I bring the Type 16 to top tier and do okay enough, the VT-4 will certainly be an upgrade over it

Not having a proper top tier light tank and having to take the Type 16 instead really upsets me tho. If only we got something like the MMPM (Chuta), it would be a great scout and flanker.
