It also makes it really wonky. Even if I manually control and aim the launcher vehicles and aim them exactly at the enemy, the missiles will first go to where the radar last saw the target. This is especially bad at closer ranges.

Another issue I have is the lack of UTDC on the IR missiles. (see Community Bug Reporting System) They are rarely ever useful, I rather have the ARH that do trigger RWR, but at least I can fire them every now and then. I rarely get a chance to get a lock with the IR ones. One last thing is that you can’t really just use the radar screen and fire the missiles while controlling the radar vehicle as the launchers are dumb and half my missiles end up in the ground unless I aim them manually. 💀

So how do we feel about the new SAM so far? It has trouble shooting down guided munitions, and its always better to he in the llauncher because the AI will just keep aiming at tbe ground…

Essentially you just play it as a 81c but yoh check the new radar screen from time to time for enemies

a helicopter at point blank 2km, somehow the tansam’s TEL’s IR misses point blank

That’s cuz IRCCM, normal Type 81 C had problems with those too.

I never knew a KA-50 had IRCCM, as well as F-15E/SU-30SM

It’s probably the proximity fuze being broken despite gaijin not even touching it

I find the radar is much worse now than it was in the dev server
Im struggling to get valid tracks quite a bit and thats a pretty big issue considering how quick you need to fire after detection perhaps if gaijin gave back the fast TWS mode it could help but still
That and if a IRIS-T SLM is spawned in too i might aswell just J out since i cant compete with it for range

Yeah the radar is terrible i just had a match where i was sitting there the entire time failing to get a actual track so that i could fire a missile at targets
It struggles heavily with ghost targets and then also losing targets im guessing probably because of how slow the TWS update is but now im thinking theres something else causing it too

Despite being the exact SAME vehicle, the turret horizontal has been reduced by 15 degrees on the TEL (Unsure on horizontal I need to check)

i think we have like 5 - 7 (non crap ww2 helis) left to add for Japan.

99% - yes. After some incidents with corruption Japan has announced that they stop to continue invest money into attack helicopters and start the attack dron era. But despite this fact Japan still missing any attack drone what could replace helicopters and AH-1S with AH-64 are still in service and Cobras even more often heli than Apache.
So the only top helicopter stuff what Japan can get is AGM-114L Longbow for AH-64.

Here isn’t 5-7 helicopters as I understand. The possible variants:

  • H-13 with Type 64 for 7.7 as analogue to Swedish helicopter
  • SH-60L with 2 (maybe in game can be increased to 4 but as I understand IRL they use only 2) AGM-114M HE Hellfire, MAWS, LWS and RWR.
  • And probably, very probably but I doubt, they can add BK-117 what was made together with Japanese and Germany companies but weapon was added only in Germany. I don’t remember exact systems but it is helicopter for like 8.7.

Here is OH-1 of course but it is more meme helicopter with only 4 Type 91. I of course want it but haven’t included it to the list becuase for most of players it will be useless vehicle.
So realisticly here are only 2 helicopters

As i under stand it there are plenty of helis left to add to japan that you are either unaware of or chose to ignore for some reason these include:
6 variants of the Mitsubishi SH-60K
Kawasaki-Bell 47G-2/H-13H
Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja (which is very capable for anti-air alone and could be in maybe a branch line though)
Subaru-Bell UH-2
and theres also some AH-1S cobras you can find on this forum.
All these helis are more than capable of making a fun game play experience if not pretty decent cas-wise.

Japans also currently planning to upgrade the sensors and nvds on their apaches.

Which doesn’t have any weapon at the moment. Probably it can take 2 blocks of rockets but UH-1B which got non historical 4 rockets blocks showed that it is not effective and as again it is not known can UH-2 use it.

4 10G missiles is not very effective against air targets and it is the only weapon possible for thus heli. As again I really want it but effective of this helicopter still low

The only difference what I know with AH-1S is missing DIRCCM but it should be added to the actual AH-1S without adding 400k research points clones with no differences in gameplay.
And it is all, here isn’t other cobras or weapon on it in Japanese service

Yeah I know about SH-60K but the difference with SH-60L in game is missing one of defensive system. I don’t remember which one - MAWS or LWS but anyway it is the reason why I haven’t included this heli - too similar to SH-60L which is better than SH-60K so SH-60K looks useless for tech tree.
