Apparently we already have the one with upgraded engines but that is strange to me because even if the current IR missile could actually lock onto something at 14 km headon, it still wouldn’t have the energy to hit, I think.
They reduced the drag on dev to help it but, I’m not sure how well that will help
Type 81C doesn’t have AESA seeker.
Also I am not sure even about Type 11. It is known that Type 11 got AESA radar on FCS vehicle instead of PESA on Type 81 (all). But I don’t remember anything about AESA seeker
Type 11 and Type 81C motors length and diameter is same and also at TRDI 60th book is said that more difference in missile for Type 11 was new processors and other electronic for faster work but not engine so it looks like engine is the same
Numbers of length is mostly secret and all distance listed can be not correct. The only what looks correct is 14km for Type 81C ARH missile because it was listed in Japanese book and it can be understood from demonstrative shots on videos.
I am sure that range of Type 11 is same or slightly different than Type 81C
But Type 81C is 1996 year modernisation while Type 11 is 2011 year new vehicle
As I said differences on missile is processors but more differences was at vehicles:
FCS got new AESA radar with all advantages of this type of radar

I have submitted the same bug report in the past. However, the reply was
“It’s not a bug. There is a different version of the rocket engine.”
Well, maybe my writing style was a confusing sentence.
All of them should be able to fire without an FCS vehicle.
However, as you mentioned, the Type 81 (A/B) is just an IRH and can be easily countered with flares, so it’s probably not very effective. It might be a nightmare for aircraft without flares, but at BR 11.3, there aren’t any.
But what is bothering me in this question is why here isn’t any note about AESA seeker at TRDI 50th book what is weird. Also as I know Type 03 Chu-SAM doesn’t have AESA seeker because it is known that new Type 03 Kai got it in 2010s and knowning this I am little bit doubt that Type 81C in 1996 already got AESA seeker
As for Type 03, to be honest, I am not sure if it is AESA or not. And since the Ka-band seeker document includes the sentence “Research on Ka-band surface-to-air guided missiles, etc.”, I think there is a slight possibility that Type 03 is also an AESA.
I haven’t seen anything that says Type 03 is not AESA, so I could be wrong.
a different thing compared to other spaa is that it gets a sight view, IRIS-T SLM for example, but for the Type 81 its inverted and only works when ur in said vehicle
The bmp I showed had its 37mm removable and the gun was raised instead of directly mounted to the roof, for the ki mi I can’t tell since it’s too rusted. For the tilt the roof has rusted away and the gun collapsed. Lastly I did find some examples of the Ki Mi without the giant exhaust but still had the floats.
Well the the structure mounted behind the turret is just a hollow tower to allow proper air intake while in the water, so even with it removed the gun would still be sitting on top of the vent.
Not to mention the Ka-Mi was designed to be light for obvious reasons, so adding around 2,400 extra pounds at the direct rear of the tank probably isn’t a very great idea.
According to this video both the Chi-To and Na-To were fitted with the Type Ge 75/55mm squeeze bore cannon:
However, I believe the video uses this MaiWaffentrager Reddit post as a source for that claim. The question being, was she lying here or are there sources to support this?
It seems in live the TADS lost its 110° and Fast TWS mode
What are the chances of it returning?
it seems pretty useful to keep the radar scanning quicker towards the part of the sky you expect targets to appear from rather than using the 360° search
It also makes it really wonky. Even if I manually control and aim the launcher vehicles and aim them exactly at the enemy, the missiles will first go to where the radar last saw the target. This is especially bad at closer ranges.
Another issue I have is the lack of UTDC on the IR missiles. (see Community Bug Reporting System) They are rarely ever useful, I rather have the ARH that do trigger RWR, but at least I can fire them every now and then. I rarely get a chance to get a lock with the IR ones. One last thing is that you can’t really just use the radar screen and fire the missiles while controlling the radar vehicle as the launchers are dumb and half my missiles end up in the ground unless I aim them manually. 💀
So how do we feel about the new SAM so far? It has trouble shooting down guided munitions, and its always better to he in the llauncher because the AI will just keep aiming at tbe ground…
Essentially you just play it as a 81c but yoh check the new radar screen from time to time for enemies
