General Japanese Naval Forces Discussion HQ

Well we know that they’re planning a pre-rebuild Kongo. Which means either Hiei or Kirishima. I’m putting my money on Kirishima being roughly as built.
Which means if you want to duel Washington whenever she gets added you’ll be forced to use Kongo instead.

Kirishima is an event vehicle, and traditionally an event vehicle is usually a simple copy of an existing vehicle. So I think it’s more likely that she’s 1942.

The trailer for one of the previous updates, I think it was Air Superiority, showed off a glimpse of a pre-rebuild Kongo. So we can guess pretty well that they’ve been looking for an excuse to add that ship.
Disappointing as it would be to lose post-rebuild Kirishima, at least that might mean we’ll get Hiei with her funky Yamato-style pagoda. Or maybe not since when it comes to ships that served for ~30 years they like to have an early-ish version and a late version. So if anything I think we’re looking at Hiei and Kirishima both being pre-rebuild, with one eventually coming to the tech tree.

At what moment was this? I didn’t see anything like that…

As for Kirishima, I still hope that it will appear before the modernization. Around 1915 or 1920. But Hiei should definitely be given for 1942, no other way. With its experimental superstructure that went on the battleship Yamato

To be honest its mostly speculation from the ~2 seconds we saw of an unidentified ships mast, which as far as we could tell only matched a pre-rebuild Kongo. Given Gaijins track record I’m just extrapolating that Kirishima is going to be an unfortunate waste of my time. I thought there was a date attached when the ship was first leaked as well pinning her as 1919, but I guess I’m just misremembering.
Almost certainly bad news for the only Japanese battleship to shoot at another (enemy) battleship since 1905, but hey, at least Hiei might not be one of those god awful “as-built” configurations.

I’m just not sure why Japan is getting it’s 9th battleship. I love playing them, but they already have 6 tech tree and one event 7.0, one 6.7 premium, and one 6.3 tech tree battleship. Seems like maybe they could throw a bone to the some of the other nations.

Japan sells well. So does Germany.
In contrast, Britain and France do not sell well.

Im shocked Japan sells well, but I guess they are more iconic

Obviously. Japan was the only nation to actually put up a fight in the naval war. Plus the power of anime has really done a number on peoples perception of the Japanese navy… for the worst I’m starting to think.

Well, shipgirls are always cute.

Personally I think German cruisers deserve a shoutout (esp over Bismarck) and Italian ships as well, but yeah, Japan was the big Axis naval power

Depending on where they’re from, I suppose.

Well that’s Britains fault for overhyping the Bismarck to hell and Italys fault for being… y’know.
And the poor French only get recognition for Britain showing its true colors.

Italy actually did a lot more than people think. They kept the Brits occupied in the Mediterranean for a while

I see quite a few Iron Dukes in matches, but very few Belfasts. In contrast, I see almost none of the higher tier French premiums because they are awful. I think if they offered a good product for either nation, people would buy them. Anecdotally, I would certainly buy them.

I think the Italian 6.3 lineup is one of the best in the game, and the Leonardo da Vinci is criminally under tiered. Just don’t tell the devs that.

The problem with France is that the two classes of dreadnought just aren’t that good. They should’ve at least made a Bretagne class the premium instead of the Courbet. Plus there’s still no Algerie or La Galissonniere, and Dunkerque is suffering from crippling artificial nerfs. Why play the tree or spend money on it when they won’t add new ships or f*cking fix the ones in the tree?

Least Japan gets some love. Although not as much as people think considering two ships are in laughably wrong tech tree positions (WITH NO CHANGE IN SIGHT) and one of those ships is basically a fantasy in the way its been implemented.

Well at least we’re getting La Galissonniere!

Hopefully with the coming updates over the next year the minor nations will be brought to parity with the big dogs.

Yeah, but after Dunkerque I want to know what Gaijin did to ruin La Galissoniere.

Are you talking about the transverse armor?
