General Japanese Naval Forces Discussion HQ

You could play the server replay until the time it happened, slow it down and then watch very closely whats happening. That’s what i did when i had something strange with some (HE or aphe, can’t remember shells hitting the smoke funnels of my amagi or mutsu, resulting in an explosion of the whole engine compartment and killing 600 people in there like a year or something ago, though i can’t remember if i used the server replays or the client ones) it might not be accurate when your hull or something gets actually hit, but maybe it sows more accurately where the shells landed at least

Yep, I don’t wanna play this POS anymore. But I do want to get an actual issue report accepted because I’m sure something is wrong with either of these:

  • the shell room and/or auxiliary ammo always seems to chain detonate the entire ship, which doesn’t happen on other ships. This might be the reason why the ship explodes after 5 seconds of fire. Or maybe it’s another issue.
  • I have a clear case of the auxiliary ammo getting HE bugged by Soyuz. The hit replay shows he didn’t pen me. Ok, maybe he somehow penned me, but even if he did, there was a shell room in front of the auxiliary ammo. The shell could not have reached the auxiliary ammo without hitting the shell room, which wasn’t destroyed. The only explanation I see is that the shell HE bugged the aux ammo.
  • The rear barbette seems to often get penned at ranges where it should be very improbable, and the hit replays always show there is no penetration.

But then again, even if all that was fixed, Yamato still sucks. So I might just give up and never play it again.

Unfortunately, I can’t really check if the penetration was possible or not by just looking at it.

Well, theres stuff like this

and

and

One can only hope somthing comes out of this.
As it is atm, youre right. No point in touching it

The duel between Yamato and Roma to see who is the ship with more bugs this update seems very fierce

Don’t think so. Even with all this, you will die to barbette fires in 5 seconds. Or sink.

I haven’t died once to an actual penetration into the magazines or shell rooms. Just rear barbette fire, unsinkability lost or that one magical aux ammo explosion.

It’s really a shame they both were planned, built, underwent trials (by such “small” countries like italy and japan no less, some during wartime with resource shortages and all that stuff) and were actually floating and moving (which is what ships sort of do i believe)

Imagine they were only built for 10% and the blueprints showed stuff that would have been near impossible even for both of those countries advanced shipbuilding industry to accomplish and complete. Possibly they even had to cut back on some plans because they were too complicated, while planning or so they could finish the ships. Man how those ships would slap in game. The snail could then give them their most optimistic values for all the parts that were never used on them. They could give them max speeds they never reached and put guns on them that would have been impossible to mount and give those a firerate they wouldnt be able to achieve and accuracy those guns would never have achieved /s

Am I really gonna have to make another bug report for this?? Just because they’re too incompetent/lazy to actually put effort into fixing it??

Did anyone else here experience this Problem playing the yamato?
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/7e9VkoLNQq61

Died to one salvo hitting basically only my superstructures, one or two aa guns, a range finder, the smoke funnel and one to the engine…Just how? At this point im actually beginning to wonder what this ship does not instantly explode to? the soyuz just looking at it?

I think people forgot you can talk about modern stuff here :D

Not exactly like that but I’m not surprised. They’re probably gonna tell you you didn’t provide all the necessary info because you don’t have an in-game screenshot.

My current theory on all this is that it’s caused by large client-server desync, so what we see on the client isn’t even close to what really happened on the server.

well its gonna be kinda hard to take in game screenshots when u only realize 10 seconds later that something strange happened. i still have the replay and can save th .blk files of the 6 hits. unless those are only calculated by the replay itself and might still be faulty due to desync. still, i didnt have any pl or high ping that game so…it just feels like the secondary aa gun being taken out exploded the secondary ammo or something. its quite fkd up i mean u can actively dodge shots because u know u blow up with a hit anywhere at the waterline around the turrets and u manage to do so, all the shells hit mid ships and too high, but then again…

Yeah, it’s hard to get in-game screenshots, otherwise I’d have made 5 reports by now (which Gaijin wouldn’t like). Best take a screenshot each time you die in the Yamato.

How sad is it that Japans best (most likely) battleship is going to be an $80 premium?

Ew modern stuff. Hell nah. Yamato needs fixing and soyuz need to be realistic/nerfed/worst ship.

I love that the advice given for Yamato players basically says to only play them in EC or basically every map where you don’t have to contest points. Or sail away from the enemy!

So we either have to turn away from the enemy, spawn in worse ships, or not spawn at all.

Amazing.

Yeah Yamato is not for 12 km spawn maps even without all the bugs.

At least spawn us already at 18-20km so we don’t have to turn and waste all that time to get into position.

I kinda like the idea of never qeueing or leaving the queue as soon as theres one single russia rank 7 player also queueing or just jing out and leave the match if you see the first soyuz salvo coming in close to anywhere of the front half of your yamatos hull. Not worth the time, not worth the effort trying to play matches where u got no choice than spawn bow in going full speed towards the whole enemy team that pops up 10 km in front of you. 3 players shooting at me 10 seconds after i spawned before i had any chance to maneuver? yeah, nah fk this ship im out. have fun fighting all these bots (which is what id like to do to spade this ship of a ship, but yk, everyone and their grandmother like to shoot at the yamato since its easier to kill than any bot cruiser)

Actually from what I’ve seen Yamato is terrible at range too.

The longer the range, the higher the chance of underwater shells. And Yamato’s underwater armor belt is very thin (165mm, because gaijin used average value even though it should taper from 200mm to 100mm).

You’ll usually get hit in your auxiliary ammo by underwater shells, which will destroy the ship for some reason. Funnily, at first Gaijin made it so that the aux ammo functions like a magazine, it would kill the ship on detonation. But now even after they turned that “feature” off, it still kills the ship when it detonates.
