Just got the Yamato.
In the first 10 seconds of my first game, I got hit here:

Died from fire in 5 seconds. Great.
How does that even work. My upper magazine was empty, no way the fire reached the magazine. Did they rig the whole ship to blow if the shell room blows?
In fact, has anyone ever seen a Yamato shell room explode without the whole ship exploding? I haven’t, but I haven’t been shooting many Yamatos.

Another epic death in the Yamato:
Soyuz shell bounces off that plate. Auxiliary ammo randomly explodes and destroys ship. As a cherry on top, the Soyuz shell was invisible.
Unfortunately I don’t have a time machine to take a screenshot so they’ll say I haven’t included all the necessary info for an issue report. Might still make it.
One thing that’s been annoying me is that I’m pretty sure screenshots are completely unnecessary. I think the devs just use them to get a timestamp of the issue, which they then use to find the relevant line(s) in the log file. But, they have the timestamp of the start time of the match, so they can just add the timestamp inside the replay (i.e. match started at 16:00:00, issue was at 7 minutes 13 seconds in the replay, timestamp is 16:07:13).
Either I’m wrong in some way, the devs aren’t very resourceful, or they’re just making us get screenshots so they can ignore more issues.

I thought it was gonna take a long time to find another example, but it happens every game apparently. Thank god I don’t have to play the Yamato anymore. Worst experience I’ve ever had in any ship.
Update: it seems a Soyuz shot my barbette 6 seconds before my death. There was no visible fire in the barbette, nor does it show up on the Soyuz’s replay, but that’s probably what killed me, and not the the Fuso. I’ll keep the issue going since that’s fishy too, but it seems I need to find another instance of the front ammo randomly exploding to non penetrating hits. And on top of that, the Soyuz shell that destroyed my ammo elevator doesn’t look like it penetrated, and while replicating the shot in protection analysis, it looks like it shouldn’t penetrate. And even if all that was okay, why the hell is Yamato exploding in 5 seconds from a fire while the upper magazine is empty.

Well, as i expected, the yamato in naval RB is absolutely unplayable. Getting targeted by the whole enemy team of multiple iowas and soyuzs instantly that you cant even scratch (with stock he), basically exploding with every main caliber (and sometimes secondary) hit anywhere close to the guns, barbettes or magazines. 15 spawns, 12 times times oneshot, 20% winrate and finally able to at least get the aphe shells with stock he while stock soyuz shooting at you with 90 kg tnt filler sap with 600 mm pen. FUNFUNFUN. Now, having the aphe shells doesnt stop the yamato from exploding from everything that looks at it funny, didnt think about that now, did i?
Apparently its more of a ship for custom battles to sail around with immortality on. Nice model though, ngl.
Way to go gaijin, thats a naval patch if ive ever seen one. Now please introduce a hitpoint system if you’re unwilling or unable to balance whatever top tier naval is nowadays, i think wows is onto something with just doing that.
did that even pen the armour lmao? or did gaijin make overpressure for yamato? what a joke really XD

It did not pen on the hit replay.
But I’m beginning to think these hit replays are inaccurate. I’ve seen a bunch of non penetrations destroying modules.
Hit replays are probably useless. Or at least that’s my guess.
Also, check out the next image I sent. That hit replay is even more impossible. Like
- the shell pens where it should not be able to pen
- the auxiliary ammo explodes even though it is behind the shell room which didn’t explode
- the auxiliary ammo explosion takes out the whole ship

Are those replays of the client replays? Last time i checked server replays for any naval matches were not available. That’s where those replays can differ a lot, even from ground or air rb replays. The server replays should always be way more accurate in showing what actually happened in the match and which round actually landed/penned/nonpenned at which point and the time in game when it actually happened. Guessing that your replays are from your client i think thats what causes the difference from replay to what happened in game comes from.
And it sinks really easily, which only exacerbates the issue of everyone on the map wanting to shoot at you.
Those are client replays. Server replays are available if you search via your name, don’t use the check box to search your own replays. I’ll check the server versions, but I’m not sure that I can get “hit replays” from server replays.
yeah, with other ships like Fuso I got 3 / 6 ammoracks and still remained afloat but yamato? Some tiny AA shells explodes and it takes out whole 72 000 ton ship just bs.
Yamato has just huge ammoracks put all as one hitbox that when damaged whole explodes insted of individual parts, you cant even take less of those AA shells that take half of the ammo layout and the hitboxes itself are just nonsence compare to Soyuz. Yamato has whole inside filled as ammo rack hitbox, while turret ring whole thing all the way to armour border while soyuz has tiny elevator and then tiny ammo racks that does not even count all the shells.
I mean everyone and their mother knowing that its just an unarmored powderkeg with a massive magazine covering the whole front half of the ship behind a bulkhead that you cant angle and thats pointing right at you at the start of the match also doesnt help. I would shoot it if i had to spade my iowa, ngl.
Its literally the worst ship and worst experience in naval i ever had grinding two tech trees. Kinda hilarious that its also something like the flagship (or the thing thats got its silouette on the poster of this patch you could say) but its damage model and its playability in the standard gamemodes is as botched as it can get. And then theres the soyuz…well, time to play something else i guess
Yeah it seems it’s impossible to get hit replays from server replay files.
Yeah, hit replay seems to be bugged this update, all the few penetrating shots that detonated my magazine when i was playing Cavour, in the replay they exploded in the main 230mm belt but the damage that such shot actually did shows the magazine being hit
You could play the server replay until the time it happened, slow it down and then watch very closely whats happening. That’s what i did when i had something strange with some (HE or aphe, can’t remember shells hitting the smoke funnels of my amagi or mutsu, resulting in an explosion of the whole engine compartment and killing 600 people in there like a year or something ago, though i can’t remember if i used the server replays or the client ones) it might not be accurate when your hull or something gets actually hit, but maybe it sows more accurately where the shells landed at least
Yep, I don’t wanna play this POS anymore. But I do want to get an actual issue report accepted because I’m sure something is wrong with either of these:
- the shell room and/or auxiliary ammo always seems to chain detonate the entire ship, which doesn’t happen on other ships. This might be the reason why the ship explodes after 5 seconds of fire. Or maybe it’s another issue.
- I have a clear case of the auxiliary ammo getting HE bugged by Soyuz. The hit replay shows he didn’t pen me. Ok, maybe he somehow penned me, but even if he did, there was a shell room in front of the auxiliary ammo. The shell could not have reached the auxiliary ammo without hitting the shell room, which wasn’t destroyed. The only explanation I see is that the shell HE bugged the aux ammo.
- The rear barbette seems to often get penned at ranges where it should be very improbable, and the hit replays always show there is no penetration.
But then again, even if all that was fixed, Yamato still sucks. So I might just give up and never play it again.
Unfortunately, I can’t really check if the penetration was possible or not by just looking at it.
The duel between Yamato and Roma to see who is the ship with more bugs this update seems very fierce
