Amagi and Mutsu is currently the two best battleship in overall characteristic. Yes their survivability when not angling is little problematic but at least can ensure survivability with proper angling(which some nations even can’t), and compared to those who have superior survivability, Japanese 16’’ ships have massive firepower supremacy.
No it’s definitely not time for IJN to get new capital ship. It’s French, Italy and USA who needs new capital ship.
I do hope Japan soon enough gets a modernised Nagato but I don’t think that it’s irrelevant that Japan also has had a good spree of top tier additions not limited to two of the best 5 ships in the game. It’s kinda like when Scharnhorst was dominating and then Gaijin added Bayerns just because….
A better armoured Nagato would leapfrog Amagi even. And I’d probably not put Vanguard, Richelieu and Roma on the same level as Amagi at least in terms of game presence definitely. In a 1v1 it’s a bit different.
I do truly think it would just be so poor for game balance for anyone but Japan that it’s not worth it right now. Tosa might be a bit more balanced as the armour would still be manageable.
Yeah it’s too early for Vanguard IMO better to just buff guns and reload rate and match shell penetrations to historical docs. And then maybe fiddle a bit more with the armour on Rodney.
If you increase the rate of fire, then the Japanese 356mm is also needed) According to some documents, they could produce a rate of fire of 25/27 seconds of reloading
I mean buff guns and reload rate for the UK ships with 15” but given the Japanese 14” has a loose basis on the UK’s 13.5 and 15 I’d imagine similar reload rates could be achieved, but yeah the Japanese 14” could potentially see a reload buff also but really we need some decompression. I don’t know how we equate Barham with Amagi or Fuso with Amagi
