General Japanese & JASDF General Discussion

For air Indonesia is basically what you’d expect from an Ace combat faction, but if you want some highlights across the top ranks I’d say the Hawk 209, T-50i, F-16C Block 52ID (upgraded Block 25) / Block 15 Falcon Star eMLU and the IF/KF-21 might be interesting.

There’s also some domestic Indonesian dumb bombs for use with both their Sukhois and F-16s, nothing game defining but interesting.

Looks like Indonesia might also get the f15ex so there’s really no point of grinding out the Japanese variants, I don’t think the Japanese ones will be better than the ex in any way

Depends they are instested but nothing concrete has formed up yet. Especially with all the other fighters they are gonna aquire or planning to like Rafale, KF-21, KAAN etc its maybe unlikely they will go for F-15EX.

There is also the very first Indonesian Rafale; Rafale B F.4 #T-0301

Do any of those aircraft get interesting or unique missiles to them? Like python 4(5), Debry, IRIS-T, etc etc…

Most likely what they are planning to be for Japans 14.0+ unless they add Gripen E regardless that Thai hasnt gotten them physically yet.

From what I remember at least there is some interesting options, but nothing too unusual for these aircraft. For the western aircraft Indonesia has operated AIM-9P-2, AIM-9P-4, AIM-9P-5, AIM-9X-2 and AIM-120C-7. With the Rafale I believe they also purchased the Meteor. For the Eastern aircraft they operate the R-73E, R-27ER1 and RVV-AE.
I’ve also seen mentions of MAA-1 for their A-29 Super Tucano, but I’m not sure about that.

For the IF/KF-21 they haven’t bought any aircraft yet, and they are only receiving their prototype next year (the fifth KF-21 prototype I think), so it’s unsure what missiles they will use with these if they buy them. But it’s generally presented with Meteor and IRIS-T.
I would guess if they go for buying these aircraft they would end up equipped with Meteor alongside the AIM-9X-2, but that’s really just a guess.

Yeah, I mostly listed the 209 because I was going for high to top tier aircraft. But I feel like the Hawk 53 could be a very good aircraft for rank V where there isn’t a lot of options right now.

Indonesia ordered both Rafale B and Cs, the first completed aircraft so far is only a twin seater.

Personally I’d hope to see it since twin seaters are cool and it’d be nice to see more, but both would be possible.

I also wonder if Indonesia gets nation-specific export designations/variants similar to nations like India or Quatar. Would be nice to get specific Rafale DI / EI models for Indonesia

Any idea what ir missiles their rafale will get? From what I understand, the only options are mica ir/ir ng and the magic 2, i dont think any other ir missile is compatible

Not sure if they ordered any new missiles for it, so we can only wait and see. But for the purposes of the game it should at least be safe to say that it would be compatible to MICA just like French Rafale F.4

Mi-35P might be a new squadron vehicle. And the introduction to a new subtree like F-5 FCU and Hunter F.58.

Indonesia EMB 314 Super Tucano and Thailand AT-6TH Wolverine combo would be interesting.

about the F-4EJ kai having AAM-3:

in this video, Timestamp + visual:
1:05 - one CAT-AAM-3 (right aircraft side) + one AAM-3 (left aircraft side)
1:50 - one visible AAM-3 (left aircraft side) // next scene shows CAT-AAM-3
2:50 - Northrop Grumman AN/ALQ-131 ECM Pod is visible under the F-4EJ Kai belly

Differents aircrafts - wouldn’t be done if the missile was in testing trials,…

Nah even the JSI will only get from the EX the radar, electronic warfare suite, cockpit and new munitions for air to ground and possibly the extra amraam pylons, still will retain weaker engines and no advanced fbw that makes the EX maneuver like crazy, I wish Japan would just order EXs for themselves already but given they’re committed to F-35s instead and in a joint 6th gen program with UK and Italy (GCAP) then it’s understandable
