Big changes to Ki-100-II! A lot of FM stuff I don’t really understand (should turn better now though, at least at low speeds) and a HUGE engine buff

Ki-100 for reference, old Ki-100-II in blue, new Ki-100-II in green

It got flagged LOL.

Here is what I wrote:

I know everyone’s excited to try out the new update, and as a Japan-main, I’m definitely feeling some of that. The Super Tigris, Stingray, Oplot, and two ships are a rather nice gift to Japan, which is usually the lowest of Gaijin’s priorities. The addition of the Indonesian Mi-35 is tantalizing too, as it promises the addition of the very unique (if Gaijin desires to) vehicles of Indonesia, such as the Su-30, Rafale, Harimau, the Pindad 8x8, and so forth. That being said, I can’t help but have a pit in my stomach regarding the future of the broader Japanese TT despite the addition of Thai ground and the promise of Indonesia. I’m dreading the official response that is supposed to arrive any day now:

战争雷霆团队致中国社区的一席话 新闻-War Thuner

I simply find it absurd and alarming that a loud part of a singular playerbase can decide the development of the Japanese TT and War Thunder at large. I find it ridiculous that Gaijin can be so moved as to actually postpone (or, as I fear, cancel) the implementation of a vehicle in War Thunder. The problem with the rest of War Thunder’s playerbases is that they lack the unity and initiative that Chinese players have in confronting a perceived issue. Also, recall that the Japanese War Diaries event 8 years ago was removed following backlash, and this was when there was a server dedicated to Chinese players.

Spoiler

However, in my understanding of past developments, when these other playerbases have actually agreed on an issue concerning the implementation of vehicles in the game, it’s usually to motivate Gaijin to share the vehicles across nations. Such instances are with the JaPz.K A2 and SK105, the Skink, and with the KF41 Lynx. On that latter point, Germany mains aren’t asking for something as ridiculous as to remove the Lynx entirely from the broader Italian TT; they would much prefer to have it shared with their own TT.

Now, I should clarify that I do not seek to generalize the Chinese player base. In my reading of their comments on this forum, as well as seeing the results of a vote administered by @MAUSWAFFE (see below) the majority of Chinese players don’t seem to particularly mind the addition of the VT-4 to the broader Japanese TT, which, of course, is under the Thai flag. There seems to be an issue of timing regarding the victory parade, but that’s obviously another issue for another time. Of course, this vote is far from conclusive, and we have no way of ascertaining the actual origin of the people who voted in the poll. But the pie chart percentages do parallel the rather large amounts of comments I’ve seen calling on Gaijin to block the addition of the VT-4.
image

[details=“Legend”]
A - Don’t want Thai VT-4 added
B - Can be added but timing is bad
C - Can be added at any time
D - Other[/details]

I entreat Gaijin to please, PLEASE take notice of the many Chinese players who actually don’t mind the addition of an export vehicle to its actual user’s sub-TT. And, not only that, but to not focus on an especially loud group within the War Thunder community. The fact that this group can actually elicit an official response boggles my mind. I HOPE that this response had more to do with the treatment and implementation of Chinese vehicles (which is subpar, quite frankly; WT’s bug-reporting leaves much to be desired), but Gaijin’s record leaves me with only a small measure of hope. WT has a much broader community than just a particularly cantankerous, vocal subsection of a playerbase, however lucrative that subsection may seem to be.

Made a lil F-15J progression chart for a suggestion I’m working on.

Which ones are the ones in game?

iirc C4 (not sure about this one) and F-15J(M) Type II.

The J in game is a C-8 pre-iran

Historical defensive armament of the Nakajima Ki-49. It’s clear how hopeless the Ki-49 is in-game compared to the historical one.

  • Ki-49-I armament: 5 x Te-4 7.7mm + 1 x Ho-1 20mm
  • Ki-49-II Ko armament: 4 x Type 98 7.98mm + 1 x Te-3 7.7mm twin (belly mount) + 1 x Ho-1 20mm
  • Ki-49-II Otsu from 3381 production aircraft: 3 x Type 98 7.98mm + 1 x Te-3 7.7mm twin (belly mount) + 1 x Ho-103 12.7mm (tail mount) + Ho-1 20mm
  • Ki-49-II Otsu from 3421 production aircraft: 3 x Type 98 7.98mm + 1 x Te-3 7.7mm twin (belly mount) + 2 x Ho-103 12.7mm (tail and nose) + Ho-1 20mm
  • Ki-49-II Otsu from 3481st production aircraft: 5 x Ho-103 12.7mm + Ho-1 20mm
  • Ki-49-III armament: 4 x Ho-103 12.7mm + 2 x Ho-1 20mm (dorsal and tail)

Additionally, the thickness of the protective plate is incorrect

Do you think this is viable or would it just cause a flame war if the snail tried to add this? From what I remember Japan sent a pilot to test out a special model so if there was some sort of Su-27J model planned out for Japan it would be fun to see. Sort of like the Malaysian T-84 being a specially built T-84 for Malaysia if it was added as a sub tree tank.

I mean, they COULD add it. It would take away from Japan’s uniqueness- which they ruined by adding in the Copy + paste Thai tree.

It’s totally possible that they could add some weird JP Flanker. Would it be historical? Ehhh… Moreso than the F-16AJ… But people would complain anyway, since this IS War Thunder after all.

i mean they can just get indonesian skm which would be a copy paste su-27sm from when it first released, or a su-30mk2 which would be a su-30 copy paste with su-27sm avionics and without canards/thrust vectoring. japanese su-27… I think that’s even more paper than f-16aj

I just remember reading about it. Since we are getting eastern stuff in the tech tree it would be cool to see a set of Alternative History skins as a what if West v East Japan. I would call it the Crimson Samurai series.

Overall I doubt we would see the Japanese Su-27 but who knows they might anyway just as a what if. This issue would be from what I remember reading about it the Su-27J would be mostly air to air because of doctrine. No fun air to ground stuff.

o well

Ki-102 armor layout is also wrong I believe

Yes, indeed, the armor in the game and the historical Ki-102 Otsu is different.

It seems to me that @skultew1234 might have some more information about the armor of the Kawasaki Ki-102 Otsu
