In this game I released 20 of GBU39s in total:
18 had their targets designated using targeting pod
2 had their target designated using Y-6-6
ALL of the 18 GBU39s missed their targets. When they flew close to their targets, they suddenly started manuvering and head to another direction. In the replay their seekers show “TRK” the whole time, so I don’t see any reason of this happening.
Its likely more than that. Ive heard reports from SAL+GNSS+IOG bombs doing it on pure GNSS drops too
Id not be surprised if this bug has spread to pure GNSS weapons now too. But what you are describing, the bomb just randomly turning during the terminal phase, is exactly the issue ive reported.
I gave the replay a quick watch, them falling out the sky early looked oto consistant, likely you fired them beyond 30km away, which wont work iirc.
GBU39 doesn’t have a maximum lock distance since it is GPS+INS guided. The range depends on altitude and speed when released, not a fixed value. The only limitation is it can only guide itself for 700 seconds at max
But Tpods do. They are limited to a max of 30km. So if you were targeting vehicles with them, using a tpod, then the target has to be within 30km otherwise the point will be short. At least that is my understanding of it.
ok but I remembered when I released the GBU39s the TGP cursor stayed on the point I was aiming at. It did not move around like it does far away from target.
Also do all TGPs in game use the same model and have the same maximum range?
