why is the rafale the only aircraft to carry Gbu-49s when its platforms are the F-15E, F-16, and MQ-9 Reaper come on gaijin add it to the correct aircraft please
how do i fix my typo
click the 3 dots next to reply button on ur post and u can edit
looks like u got it
I got it thank you
The strike UCAVs has been long forgotten by Gaijin.
Depends for whom. The US don’t really use dual-mode paveway much. They prefer LJDAM on everything because it’s cheaper, for mostly the same capability. GBU-49 has only been formally acquired and approved by the US military for use on MQ-9 and F-35, as an interim capability - AFAIK this was done on the back of Raytheon’s Paveway IV integration for the UK.
There was a dual-mode GBU-12 in the US inventory designated GBU-12F/B, but it was a US Navy munition for F/A-18 legacy hornets. It continued development as GBU-73, but I don’t think it’s been procured since the Navy too, started mostly using LJDAMs on Super Hornet.
F-16 GBU-49 clearance has been done for foreign air forces like Singapore and Denmark, but the US don’t really use it on F-16. I’m not aware of F-15Es carrying it, unless again this is something Singapore have done with F-15SG
Those are GBU-12s.
GBU-49 (and all dual-mode paveways) have an electronics conduit running down the side between the tail fin unit and the front guidance unit, and steel straps to secure the conduit to the side of the bomb. The front guidance units also have two round GPS antennas
Just having a grey tail and guidance kit instead of the green one, doesn’t indicate it’s a GBU-49
They dont fit the game inherently and should have never been added. First they have zero means of defending themselves, they are only viable at BRs where they can fly high enough to be outside cannon and manpads range, once you hit 8km+ missile spaa they become free kills. Second they carry so little ordinance and take so long to rearm that they have little to no effect on the match even with no spaa present, you will be more effective spawning a low tier aircraft and hunting helicopters or doing low level bomb runs.
They should either add advanced UCAVs like the Sukhoi S-70 and X-47B that can actually survive at 10.3+ or they should remove them entirely imo
Okay, anyway.

those look too big to be GBU-12s
Maybe replaced by kamikaze drones, sure just 1 kill guaranteed but damn fun and better than 0 kills
looks like all other top tier aircraft have laser+IOG+gnss bombs (some even ER versions) but f16/f15
Still not a GBU-49.
Lockheed don’t make GBU-49, it’s a Raytheon product also called Enhanced Paveway, not Paveway Plus. Lockheed’s equivalent GPS-enhanced, dual-mode Paveway is called Paragon a/k/a GBU-73. It’s mentioned on the web article but the one in the photo isn’t that either, because the Paragon kit is only available for 500lb bombs so far.
Paveway II Plus is just a laser-guided bomb, not a dual mode GPS+Laser guided bomb like GBU-49. Read carefully in the brochure and you will see there is no mention of GPS guidance capability in the MAU-209D/B Computer Control Group. It’s still categorised as a GBU-12 type bomb because of this.
I don’t know the exact designation used for GBU-12 and GBU-10 when they have the Paveway Plus’ MAU-209 guidance unit.
But it’s listed as such in the USAF’s budget sheets:
MAU-209/MAU-169 (ED58) GBU-10/12 Computer Control Group is a laser homing guidance unit used on the GBU-10 and GBU-12 Laser Guided Bombs, (GBU-10, MK-84 Warhead, 2000lb class or GBU-12,
MK-82 Warhead, 500lb class).
The one pictured appears to be a GBU-10, since it’s the same size and shape warhead as the GBU-24 Paveway III on the other side.
Yes, I admit that I am wrong about this.
Anyway, if they don’t give GBU-49, then… L JDAM exists, but they are still not given on some aircraft like F-15E lol.
The GBU-49 can now be used on the E-Gripen.
Any plane that can carry JDAMs is capable of LJDAM+JDAM-ER
marked as [duplicate] by gaijin but I put the info in here.

I don’t argue with that, but again, we don’t have that in the game.
