There’s like 4 branches in the game (Air, Heli, Ground, Naval) and only Air has a standalone mode. Okay, Heli and Naval branches might not be as big to warrant a standalone mode, but Ground branch is as big as Air one and could easily have a standalone mode.
Your point about having to grind other branches stands, so if you want a competitive top tier lineup, you’ll have to grind both planes and helis as well, which will drastically prolong your already long grind.
Only just recently they’ve added Research helicopters while playing ground option but conveniently forgot to increase our RP/SL gains to compensate for millions of added RP and SL cost.
Some SPAAs don’t have smoke and some are literally bigger than a house you’re trying to hide behind. Remember, it only takes a single HE/HEAT/ATGM round to hit your radar and you’re done for.
Also, not all maps have hard cover near the spawn area.

Maps are already hilariously small, where should I move from spawn, when in loads of cases there’s like only 300m from spawn to the front lines. Mind you, higher tier SPAAs are often huge and sometimes don’t even have armaments to properly defend themselves against ground units.
So even if you move, your radius of movement is really limited in plenty of cases, so CAS will still find you pretty easily.
Yeah it is. Getting a lock on a heli that’s around 2.5 - 3km away is possible but highly unreliable, while trying to lock something that’s around 4km away is like a wet dream.
Funnily enough, most (if not all) helicopters at around 10.0 can easily engage enemies at 4km+ range, leaving IR SPAAs completely helpless.
People already moved on from the “just spawn spaa bro” argument to “just spawn CAP bro”, since even they realized helis basically shit on SPAAs in vast number of cases.

Thats where you take out your Roland instead of Stinger. Youre already in a 10.3 lineup playing USA or Germany with M1 or Leo 2A4, so youre not getting hurt by taking FlaRakPz or XM975 instead of Gepard 1A2 or LAV-AD. ofc i agree, Rolands are mid, personally i would just spawn CAP like you said.
F-111, F-105, F-8E, AV-8C, A-10A, F-4C, A-7D, all easily eliminate helicopters. Even OH-58 with 4 ATAS is enough anti-cas for your team most of the time. USA revolves around air support, its the doctrine of the country. Either get good with aircraft, roll with the LAV or cope by playing russia.

I absolutely love some of these replies … ohh well if you leave spawn and use all your smoke salvos and just (hide) then (wait) till the helicopter has smashed half your team with fire and forget missiles… then you can shoot it down once its run out of missiles… as if that’s a form of gameplay balance. What maps have cover for a bus in spawn? Most maps its simply open ground. Not that you should ever stay there…

Why can’t I play 10.0 with M3A3 Bradley, LAV-AD, M1128 etc. ?
Many countries have really good 10.0/9.7 lineups, why should we be limited to playing 10.3 instead of 10.0 and 9.7 ?

And also don’t forget that a heli/plane can just go back to the base, and rearm it’s 6-8 missiles completly safe, while an SPAA has to go to a friendly capture point, and sit there motionless for a minute or so, and if a teammate bumps into them, all has to be started again.
