Gaijin, why is the 200mm thick NERA block on the Merkava's roof only 95mm Kinetic effective? (Rhetorical)

I don’t even know what to say at this point. Just no. This is painfully wrong. No logical and reasonable person would think a modern composite of 200mm thick can’t stop Interwar levels of penetration.

it actually offers 70mm ke protection as there is a 25mm plate below the nera

Damn. So, it’s worse than I thought…

Armour - War Thunder Wiki

i mean it could be worse, like the war kit on the ariete, 5 tons gets you 20mm of ke protection

Don’t worry, russian rubber has double the effective armor protection of NERA :)

The Armor of the Merkava is NOT specifically and only designed to fight Chemical threats. No where does it state that the armor is only to stop Chemical warheads. Israel still fights nations with tanks to this day and it would be absolutely unthinkable for any 200mm NERA plate in existence to not stop INTERWAR penetration. While SLERA does have a Bias towards Chemical Munitions, it’s stupid to think they wouldn’t have Kinetic effectiveness. If older and more primitive Russian ERA can stop 120mm Dart rounds, then SLERA, a super form of ERA with NERA plates in-between ERA blocks, should definitely stop at least stop its exact thickness if not vastly more.

There is NO excuse for Israeli composites to have a modifier worse than Rubber Fabric Screens.

Ariete is just sad, but the Merkava, while better, is often just as fragile as the Ariete.

For some reason, 600mm Composite blocks only stop 300-400mm KE.

  1. Unless you have any credible documentation to prove anything you claim it will be rejected
  2. Welcome to all NERA in the game

Where is your sensible and credible documentation that you’re correct? You’re so adamant that Israeli composites are made with only a Chemical Bias in mind and no Kinetic protection, but you have NEVER proved that.

I think you seem to be confusing me with somebody else.

Cause a lot of it includes air.
Same happens for NERA on all tanks.

Bait use to be hard to spot.

Rubber doesn’t have notable air in it.

[And there’s a chance the X-Ray is wrong. There could be more or less air in the damage model.]

No. Not all Composits in-game are treated as Israeli composites. 600mm Line of Sight Israeli armor translates only to 430mm of armor. That’s horrific. Israeli composites can also be BLOWN OFF and Trophy inconsistently works.

For armor that’s supposedly designed to only stop Chemical, it can’t even stop 9.7 missiles despite being a 12.0 MBT with that much armor. And Gaijin has known for almost an entire year that the Merkava’s armor is way too weak. They’ve acknowledged it, so I don’t need to prove it here. I’m voicing my annoyance and Gaijin’s blatant bias against Minor Nations such as Israel.

You linked Gaijin’s stupid armor modifiers that have been proven incorrect time after time again. That link is often used to excuse Gaijin’s abuse of Minor Nation Players by players who do not understand the agony of having a 2S38 front penetrate your 600mm Composite plates because of the Kinetic Modifiers.

I linked gaijins armour modifiers because your post is asking why it is only X thickness against kinetic rounds.
I have answered your question.

It was rhetorical. I make these posts regularly to call out Gaijin’s brain rot.

As someone who’s very fond of Israeli vehicles, it pains me seeing them butchered this badly. I am also an advocate for massive buffs to Minor Nation Vehicles as well as Decompression of Ground Battles to 13.0 BR.

Interesting that your post calls USA, Soviets, Germany, etc “minor nations”.

Spoiler

AOA = 53.
130 + 45 = 175 / cos 53 = 290.
632 - 291 - 70 = 270 effective of the angled 365mm reflective plates.

Fun fact is that the armor modifier is also wrong, if you point with a M325 shell, it’s supposed to show its equal to 340mm+ of protection since according to Gaijin the armor modifier is x1.70 for NERA. Basically they think that the composite armor is just a special plastic against chemical shells when it comes to Israel, but when it comes to Russia its 10+ layers of different materials including RHA, NERA etc.

@Just_Baron
So because Abrams, Leopard, and Leclerc don’t auto-bounce rounds that means there’s bias?
And I know you falsely claimed Abrams UFP auto-bounces, but it has never done that [despite Leopard and Abrams UFPs auto-bounce IRL].

The fact your post accuses people of lying for stating basic facts is itself provocative and dishonest.

because gaijin doesn’t believe anyone can have ERA that gives protection vs Kinetic rounds duh!
