Gaijin still punishing snipers

they still haven’t stopped destroying the map , until all the maps in this game become terrible

Might want to get your olfactory senses checked.

This comment is way up and still a good one that addresses the issue.

Some “potentially unfair” spots are sometimes removed, not because they are sniping spots, but because they provide some “unusual” advantage…
I DONT KNOW what the specific spot is being discussed…but mentioned map has lots of long range firing possibilities…so very good for “snipers”…one of my favorites.

I do recall spots that allowed firing trough “slits” that made return fire very hard…and hardly realistic anyway…if this is the case i can understand removing the spot (or the cover). I used some of them…and they did not feel “right”…a bit too “gamey” for me.

Still a lot of good spots…just have to be careful with return fire…as it should be.

Why are maps left for years before changing them if they are so terrible?

I didn’t say they were terrible…many maps are changed only after a loooooong time :) Some get complains here in forum for years and never change.

I am not sure what prompts a map change…i assume it is players complaining more specifically or consistently or some sort of analysis where they identify problematic spots.
Not sure if even possible…but a tool that identifies where kill shots are obtained would allow such analysis…

Some maps maintain odd spots for years, some are changed in places i wasn’t even aware could be used…it is a mystery :)

HOWEVER…if a spot was abused and is changed…i am ok with that…THAT SAID…some map changes removed stuff i liked…so not always happy with changes…i just adapt playstyle

I have no idea either and nobody else it seems to as we have no information from Gaijin on this forum. The whiny forum members certainly don’t make life easy for themselves but it’s Gaijin who created the game, the maps and the vehicles and now have set out to make them mostly redundant which is baffling.
Nobody is standing up to take responsibility or even explain why they are ruing all the maps and causing such offence to the player base.

The new fences in Cargo Port completely destroyed across map firing but those changes were not even announced as far as I can see and many of us put bug reports in.Same with Eastern Europe.OK you can snipe across the river at the B point, well you could for years and few ever did.Very few players ever took the initiative to attack from over there those who made it got rewarded ,that is a good point not a bad one.

Why not remove CAS as they can attack a CAP point form anywhere, if firing at a cap point is offensive? Its all just baffling.

I was sniped a lot of times…on lots of maps. I take it as part of the game. I always try to id where i was killed from, particularly if it happens often…
Then i apply countermeasures (not go there, firing back, go around…) and/or try to use the same spots :)

(Almost) Any spot where a sniper can be can also be targeted…and in AB in particular, this is usually a matter of awareness and aiming.
HOWEVER…there are some spots where there is a BIG imbalance in the cover from one spot to the other…and i am ASSUMING this is the issue being addressed…as it can “feel” rather unfair to players.

I did NOT sense a big change in sniping in general…but it may be me that did not use the spots being “corrected”…

The spots in Eastern Europe you mention did feel ok to me…i would trade fire from both sides…but didn’t get the map since the changes…so not sure what was modified.

So you get hit form a good spot then you use that good spot. That was called learning the game : )

It’s annoying when you get killed form a spot and you finally identify where it is.You go there so you can benefit from it only to find Gaijin took it out and you are looking for a position that no longer exists. Its like its fine for everybody to use a spot to kill you but you are not allowed to use it.
It seems like every veteran on here gained their great stats by doing things we can no longer do which is unfair.
I do admit there were some truly broken positions from which returning fire was an issue.
I think many new devs simply dont appreciate the work of the old devs. Many of the map options were just that ,Options.

You could drive for miles on a map to flank and it either worked for you or you just wasted the game driving. That was your choice but at least it was a choice.

Maybe that is something adults get that kids dont. I guess the game has to cater for both : ) I am sure the new maps will become the old maps and we will get used to them.As you say ,adapt and remain positive.

I am assuming this^^ is the idea…and hope it is being well implemented (but pretty sure mistakes will be made :) ) As mentioned above…Carpathians had such spots…

I prefer longer(-ish) shots as i am also “older” therefore slower in reaction times.

My point is more that i usually try to engage from some distance (500m to 1km, usually WW2 vehicles) and can do it on most maps…and feel that the game actually encourages this. I can also get 1km to 2km shots on occasion…but not on so many maps…
Game also allows for players to rush caps and fight at close range…if players so prefer.

There are maps i don’t like that “force” close range a bit…but not so many. In most maps you just need to choose WHERE you fight.
