With this recent major update or the previous. The P-47D (Especially the D-22) feels even heavier and even slower than before. I used to be able to reach somewhat competently 500kmh. But even at high alts it feels like an absolute drag to reach those speeds.
Yak-9s doing shallow dives and climbing up can heavily extend my time of separation to the point I’m literally having to spend 5-7 minutes a match just to run away. I can almost never break 3km, therefore I can never have the time or space to turn and engage the enemy. ANd because I can’t cash in on my energy due to the unrealistic flap nerf the P-47 is functionally worthless now.
I can’t force overshoots because I can’t use my flaps, even setting the throttle down to zero I still can’t force an overshoot because the enemy can do the same and bleed speed quicker as they can use their flaps above 320kmh.
One of the greatest aircraft in the U.S. Airtree has been rendered absolutely worthless and impossible to play if you have anyone ANYONE who has the mind to want you dead. The only way to play the P-47 currently is like playing a super gimped F4U-4
No. It’s a forced feature. It’s supposed to be like the auto-retraction feature on the F4U but gaijin got lazy and just made it where you can’t use any flaps above 320kmh.
Yes there’s been bug reports. No. Gaijin won’t fix it.
It used to roll better. The 2700 horsepower helps but you still have the issue of really bad top speed for what your aircraft should be able to do. You also can’t cash in on your energy efficiently
The auto retraction worked via air pressure going over a basic sensor (Think like a plunger on a stiff spring) and that would force the flaps up. It should work like the F4U where over a certain speed, it’d raise it. But in game it’s just a flat blanket block.
whilst using a Hotas with Simplified Flight Controls and without instructor. I do not perform head-ons (except vs JP) due to lack of accuracy vs mouse aim players.
I do agree that the flap issue is major setback and these planes feel way more stiff and clumsy than some months ago. So even if you can get an altitude or energy advantage vs opponents it became a challenge to bring guns on target even if you created a nice energy trap.
In addition i noticed that i lost a lot of elevator authority out of nowhere and pancaked several times especially with the CHN F-47 N due to this. And previously i was able to outturn mouse aim flown La-7s even in a slight energy disadvantage with the CHN F-47 N thx to the turn advantage of a HOTAS - this became almost impossible.
Same with the UK P-47 - i was never scared of a La-5 FN and had a realistic chance to win a 1 vs 1 when i started the fight on equal energy states and high speeds - now i have to gain a surplus upfront to have a chance.
To be fair: The P-47s are still way better (regarding elevator authority) than the Fw 190 D-12 i flew out some time ago, but i prefer now the 3.3 UK Hellcat even on Pacific maps vs a full JP team.
