It has no missiles, it’s slower than everyone even in your br or 8.3, it turns slow as a piece of brick, loses speed quickly on curves, it has no flares, it has no radar, what the hell is gaijin doing in this game? Is there no balance team?

skill issue bruh it has 4x AA-20s (they are worse than before but still good so), also it has arguably better guns than the R/4 or R/1 so I mean its a pretty normal 8.7 comparable to sabres and MiGs

8.7 migs/sabres of today are not 15bis or 86f. They are 17s/cl13a (Though these should be back up BR yup)

Skill Issue your ass, you didn’t even bother to see which plane I’m talking about man.
Having AS-20s doesn’t help at all in realistic air combat, there’s no point in having 30mm cannons either if your plane turns like a B57 and has an acceleration of me 262, no point in being at 8.7
The Sabre Cl13A Mk5 in the same BR compared to it is like comparing a child with an adult, the G91 loses in every aspect, there is not a single reason for it to be at 8.7
unc i have all of italy spaded I know how the G.91s perform. Ive never had a problem with the G.91 preserie (8.3), or the G.91 R/1 which is at 8.7 and has access to a lot less than the R/3. Only G.91s I started seeing problems with were the G.91Y series because they face missiles that you cant dodge.
Nobody needs flares or radars at 8.7, and the AA.20s are still okay in headons, even though they have been heavily nerfed.
What do you need for it be a good plane man?
I found it quite good at 8.7 TBH, but BR compression does make it a bit rough. It’s relatively nimble with easy to aim guns, and overall decent flight performance.

Worst missiles you will face is a Aim-9G in a full uptier (and what would you expect for something to perform well in a full uptier anyway)

The average War Thunder player needs to be seriously analyzed, I challenge you to find an AA20S on the G91 R3, I think you are in another reality, friend.

Either way, yes the average warthunder player needs to be analyzed because if you seriously believe any G.91 R serie is bad than it really is a simple skill issue.
What’s your argument for saying the R3 is good? I’m not generalizing, remember, I didn’t mention any other G91, but if you want to prove something I assume you must have arguments, how does it compete with a Sabre Mk5? how does it compete with a Lim-5P? how does it compete with a Mig 15 Bis (8.3)?
Played the MiG-17PF, its the same thing as the Lim-5P (lim means licensed model for Poland). It has much better roll rate and gun authority, also MiG-17PF compresses alot because it can go too fast for its own good. Edit here “it” is referring to the G.91

Ive never played the sabre mk.5 so I cant speak on that specific vehicle, but I have played the mk.5 and american variants. Honestly they were both equal in my opinion, I personally liked the G.91 R/1 because I felt it was much more nimble. I would love to play the R/3 because it fixes the R/1’s only weakness being the .50 cals.
I really believe that you just arent playing the aircraft properly, I have never been close to struggling in that plane. It certainly is a different playstyle from the MiGs and a little different from the Sabres so you could be just suffering from not being exposed to planes from nations with other playstyles.
R/3 has the exact same engine and stats as the R/1 and R/4. This is why they are both at the same BR. R/1 is comparitively the worse as it has only .50 cals and minimal ground options. R/3 and R/4 have same ground options and are the same in competitiveness depending on how you compare the 30mm and Aim-9Bs.
So tell me what’s the best way to play with him?

Climb and flank. Get fast then attack from the rear of the enemy, you can easily kill anyone then.

Disregarding the fact that the G91 R3 is one of the slowest planes, let’s assume you managed to boom and zoom on someone, great, anyone with a brain cell that makes a turn to the side will completely take the G91 R3’s aim, and the worst part is, do you know what happens if you continue in a straight line? Anyone who is faster than you will catch up to you in no time, and it’s not at all difficult to find someone with such capabilities assuming that 90% of the game is uptier
The chance of you having to curve to escape a missile is also very high, and another great characteristic of the G91 R3 is losing speed in curves, you know the end of that, right?
