Also the reverse being same as forward is incredibly nice.
Someone asked me about FoM being confirmed, I hadn’t heard anything about that (especially since the article calls the launchers “deployable”), but I did check the datamine and removing FoM is incredibly easy, just 2 lines in the vehicle’s .blk, so I’m kinda hopeful that it’s an intended feature
What is FoM?
but only four atgm, which is disappointing
Fire on the Move
I was always under the impression that TOW missiles inherently cannot be fired on the move due to the fact they are wire guided, is that not the case?
Unfortunately probably not, as far as I’m aware tows (and other wire guided systems in general) flat out cannot be FoM. There is a reason the Russians researched Laser guided and radio guided ATGMs so much.
The US uses radio frequency TOW-2As and Bs which could potentially be fired on the move as they have no wire, which is the limiting factor
iirc we don’t have any radio Tows in game, so I was kinda of ignoring them for the purposes for my comment
Plus the demo video in the dev blog has visible wires
I believe the US planned to upgrade Kuwait’s Desert Warriors in the early 2010’s to use more modern TOWS.
I can’t find any info on if they actually went through with the upgrade program though annoyingly.
the chinese blog says desert warrior will deploy the missile laughters just like m3a3 do before fire the tow,do this correct or not
no i don’t think so as they work differently
but they said they will do the change on the warrior as they did on the m3a3
Not sure how much use these will be to this thread as far as information goes. But here are some docs on the MCV80, which is the prototype designation of the FV510 Warrior IFV. One gives very good views of the original base armor structure of the vehicle.
Can always appreciate new and different pictures of the warrior.
The EN blog also calls them deployable but we’ll have to wait and see
Dev updated again and Desert Warrior doesn’t seem to have had a fire on the move restriction added yet, though I can’t actually check for like 6h.
Also had a look around the model yesterday, the TOWs apparently phase through a plate, but I’d say there’s comfortably space for 6 missiles in the hull (3 per side should fit from the looks of it)
No reason why they shouldn’t be in the left and right rear stowage same as the UK Warrior.
