Nothing wrong with limiting player choice if that helps with quality of our games.
Burden of that shouldn’t fall on a single conscious player, rather it should be mandated and regulated by the MM itself. What we have right is a total mess, which to no surprise leads to a pretty large amount of curb stomp matches.
The only free SPAA that are too powerful are the CS/SA5, the Pantsir, and maybe the ITO.
The rest of them are 11.3 / 11.7 garbage especially considering all of them don’t get any modifications or crew experience.
Another example, the infinite reload of Kh-38 missiles its not a problem about time. You see this guy saturated 2 enemy spaas, and at last the NAMBA only could intercept only 1 missile, while the other missiles failed to intercept the rest of the munitions (you can hear how they pass near the kh38).
And yet you do not see the match ended?
I also face this issue with the Spyder, bc it has way lower munition count.
Then advocate for a gamemode that actually promotes that.
The Roland launchers (Namely FlaRakPz, XM975, and FlaRakRad) are all insanely OP, primarily due to IRST.
Short range IRCCM missiles start at 11.7-12.0 in ARB, and even those are controversial. For some silly reason, Gajin decided SAMs should get short range IRCCM at 9.3, and long range IRCCM at 10.0.
Seriously, what on earth is a CAS plane seriously expected to do when I launch an IRST guided Roland at em? There’s no RWR warning, and if it’s a snow map, there’s no visible smoke trail either.
The ‘team game’ idea is so close to reality but ultimately a fail. imo → A great deal of it has to do with poor map design and lack of implementation of other battlefield elements.
The only assets at risk are those that are driven into the city, no supply line, or support company elements to attack or defend. No reason to deploy AA to the airfield, as you cannot attack it.
No anti-tank emplacements, barriers, etc. All the terrain is essentially the same, so no reason to hold a road or attack a road. wheeled SPAA can run around at 80kph through foot deep mud and snow…? Predictable nonrandomized maps and objectives.
As a result, the stated goal as “combine arms warfare” is false. It’s essentially just squad-based combat akin to paintball or CS. Deploy all your artillery, spaa, light and medium tanks 200m away from the edge of a city and drive into it would be a quick way to get dismissed as a leader. My thinking is you would have to make WarThunder2 to make the adjustments needed to really make it a combine arms deal.
In terms of the free SPAA, most matches wind up with like 5+ SPAA in them…making one of the most interesting and powerful tools (CAS) almost impossible to use. Sure, you can notch, mask, flare… But you will spend your entire flight time running around in circle dodging and dealing with SPAA for the most part. (maybe not as much once you hit self guided munition)…So the impact of those units on the game and map is negligible at best. … In fact, it is far more useful for the enemy team to spawn all this SPAA that has no targets to shoot down. Somewhere around 8.0 br I simply do not bother fielding CAS if I am playing to win… Auto Cannon AA tho… I’ll field that as many times as I can.
If they are blind or careless sure. But the 9.7 / 10.3 rolands are extremely easy to dodge.
The VT1s are much better but as long as you know it exists you can just stay low and gun strafe / rocket run the FlraRakRads. Besides, they can only shoot two at a time too.
Nope. If they’re in a slow plane (e.g Su-25) they can’t dodge it. If they’re in a helicopter they can’t dodge it. If they make even the slightest mistake, the 6.8kg of explosives is not forgiving.
That is if the player lets the computer aim for him which a Good majority does. Always good to aim manually and predict the fast jets roll-dodge or quickly breaklock to aim manually at the center of its roll to avoid missing. Most wont do that unfortunatley.
There is another Method besides rolling, if the jet can carry FFAR Mighty Mouse Rockets, or any kind of rocket in general, it can pop the SACLOS with its own proxy fuse. A lot of ways to deal with SAMs.
