Please, PLEASE, add Skill based match making. I cannot handle being queued with idiots who genuinely cannot see two enemies open in a field, with thermals. I don’t understand how my team can be filled with brain deads who have absolutely no clue what they are doing. I get more stress from this game than fun because Gaijin cannot for the love of God figure out how to not make the enemy team equal to the T-1000 and my team a manatee with down syndrome. I don’t care if a queue for a match takes 3-5 minutes, I just want team mates that aren’t clueless.

That means it would be fine. Or rather it would get harder for those used to the game being eazy. But games would become more than just one sided stomps depending on the whim of a matchmaker that only accounts for vehicle lineups.
No. I use to think I wanted it to be that way too, but it turns games into a basement of sweaty try-hards.
If you want to play skill based matches, play the tournaments:
They have a discord link there too for the specific tournament stuff. Both are “Official” you can win not only boosters that never expire, but if you place high enough you can win Golden Eagles too.

The difference in WT to CS is that WT is not inherently competitive and in fact has very few competitive aspects while CS is rooted in it from the core to where even its casual gamemodes are styled as ranked modes.

SBMM would literally kill war thunder, the game is too broad, diverse and unique for a SBMM system, there are far too many variables (like nations, BR, vehicle class, maps, etc) that affect matchmaking and none of them are tied to personal skill

Furthermore, it doesn’t solve the sealclubbing issue, because it would re-introduce smurfing back into low tiers.
And even further, war thunder is a game with such a lengthy and rigorous progression system that once again contributes to the massive list of factors present in WT that aren’t compatible with a SBMM system

No it really wouldn’t because even a new account being used by an experienced “gud” player would quickly rise in the ratings.
The rest is just the usual speculation by those happy with the status quo that benefits you.
I wonder how do you propose this “skill” level would be ascertained?
Do you have any ideas/suggestions(and please do not even begin to mention “stats” for such a thing . . because that will not work in any way) because without something like that, just sounds like “wishlisting” to me . . .
