have you considered…money?
Nah, people would still game the system with multiple accounts if they wanted to deal club and the game would be so much tougher to play. I don’t think it would make teams better anyway, some people just want to stuff around. It would certainly make the game a lot less fun if you were chucked in a lobby full of sweats every game, is probably quit at that point
The whole cycle revolves around permanently creating new accounts to sealclub lower rank/tier or br in this case, dedicated smurfers and stat smudgers will not care about progression
You can’t design a system around the psychotic butthole of the player base.
SBMM literally never works in any game, and it certainly won’t work in War Thunder. Just look at what’s happened to COD. You play one game and the players in the lobby end up playing like they’ve shoved the controller down their throat and are trying to shoot with their tonsils but because you’ve done well against the Sunshine Variety Bus riders you then get placed into a match with people far better than you simply because you done well against a special needs class. And then you also have players that intentionally tank their KD game after game so they can be put into said lobbies and dominate.
SBMM is a plague and shouldn’t spread to War Thunder.
You’re proposing a system that pairs the ‘psychotic’ playerbase with a brutal ranking system that eliminates casual play and kills entire game modes, just because you don’t like 1-2 people a lobby playing OP low tier tanks.
SBMM would make me outright uninstall, it’s abysmal, I’m more in favour of a ranked or tournament style game mode
SBMM IS a ranked system.
Meanwhile multiple games that have SBMM implemented are pretty much extremely popular…
Only way SBMM would work is if everyone’s SBMM rating was completely hidden for everyone.
You mean games like Counter-Strike or Valorant which are incredibly toxic even without WT’s grind or reward system, or like TF2 which nearly got killed completely because of SBMM?
You have more than a couple of games as evidence that SBMM indeed can work in games.
Just because you can’t take off your training wheels just yet doesn’t mean the community is toxic, they just expect decent players, not some lobotomized ones.
Applied to the whole game as opposed to a single mode
It works in those games because they have dedicated ranked modes where SBMM is restricted to.
COD has SBMM throughout all modes, and look how its doing now. When SBMM was first introduced to the COD games players immediately wanted it removed because of how awful it is for casual players, but they kept pursuing it.
Play any COD game of your choosing from Cold War to BO7 and come back and say if you enjoyed the matchmaking.
Plus, none of them have a tech-tree based progression system, battle ratings or massively differing map layouts.
War thunder is simply too complex for a whole-game SBMM system, and those advocating for it either don’t understand how a SBMM will affect the game, or refuse to acknowledge downsides
do we have the same conversation again?
why is there a new “We need SBMM” thread every few weeks and everytime everyone is against it
Are you turnning War Thunder Into a COD 7???
I mean is not a bad idea that there where good-bad allies and good-bad enemies. But it isn´t a good idea. Maybe a different gamemode like simulator.
Yeah. The biggest issue for even making a ranking is that war thunder is not lile those games.
If other games, all the characters and loadouts can face each other. In war thunder, only a small portion can face each other.
You would need, at min, dozens of seperate rankings per player.
