Air Simulator is then one of the few gamemodes listed on the left.
This gamemode forces the player to operate from the cockpit, with full controls and no markers. Making it a much harder and immersive gamemode than the others.
Hopefully, this guide will teach the devs how to access the gamemode and therefore remember it exists because:
Its been nearly 4 years since the gamemode recieved any new maps (the last being October 2022)
The new game mechanics have been added with no thought as to how to use them without external markers which are disabled in ASB (ARM, Aiming points, etc)
The gamemode has a notable amount of immersion removed thanks to the inclusion of mandatory arrestor wires. (landing at an Airfield is a core part of the gameplay)
No new or meaningful targets appear to have been added to any gamemode yet, including ASB for ARM to be used against, meaning the most we can expect is to use them against a few isolated Gepards and that is about it. After Nuclear Thunder, its clear the devs can add more objectives, but just dont want too.
Battle Rating changes rarely include changes for Air Sim, and there are many many issues that have simply been ignored, meaning it is a balancing mess.
Many Cockpits are semi-broken at the moment, with many core issues sat accepted but unresolved for years (full post for this can be found here)
The economy is a mess currently, and is in need of major improvements
Maneuver kills not being added to ASB due to unexplain but assumed BS reasons, despite the gamemode being the worst for it
So come on devs, just play the gamemode for a change and then actually spend time fixing it. With enough effort, Air Sim could actually challenge some of the other simulator games like DCS and IL-2, if not complexity, certainly in terms of gameplay potential. The only hurdle is you, the devs.
And you can partly blame the devs for that due to them not caring or putting in effort (see Heli PvP/PvE for another example).
This is such a minor thing compared to other immersion breaking things like captured aircraft. The biggest issues with runways IMO are their often bad looking placement, and their total lack of nav aids or even runway numbering.
Even some sort of GPS/waypoint system using the in game compass at the top of the screen (which I can’t recall if it even shows up in cockpit view) would be a very nice addition.
ah yes the excuss i heard a millions times alrady, warthunder had zero problems right untill the evil CEOs arrived and forced the innocent and smart devs to make braindead decisions that makes the game rage inducing cuz money and stocks or something
The laser is sometiems visible and sometimes not, it can literally change multiple times in a week. I dont think its meant to be, but gaijin just forgets to check when they update the game.
As for the IR/TV, yes, but again, it probably shouldnt be
my favorite thing about bug report is somethings just go as “forwared as a suggestion” and then say the suggestion would break the games balace
or sometimes they blatantly lie
They don’t put effort in > no one plays > they don’t put effort in because no one plays
It’s a cycle. Air/Ground sim absolutely have potential to lean more into the sim aspects of WTs simcade and aproachable gameplay. It will be the only game where you can fly modern planes that doesn’t require a ton of money/time spent learning.
That a suggestion is forwarded only means it is forwarded. In no way does it mean the suggestion is also a) actually acdcepted by the devs and b) in what priority. The suggestion mods have no power over what suggestions are implemented and which not.
