Flareless jets - does it matter what missile it is?

Hello guys.

I am asking for those of you who play the F-4C, F-105D, and other similar planes without flares that regularly see 10.3-10.7 jets with powerful missiles.

One point that frequently comes up is that planes such as J35XS and J7D club them, which I will not deny.

So I am asking a simple question - does it matter?

How you feel in your gameplay, like, does it matter that much if the missile launched against you was Aim-9G, Aim-9P, PL-5B, or even Aim-9D?

Was there a time that you considered you could escape an Aim-9G (“slow” missiles) but not a Magic (fast missiles) launched at you? How often?

For my personal experience, it did not mattered much, other than at furball situations where I was maneuvering.

Thank you.

If a missile were fired from a slow plane, and you have enough energy and speed,
you could even try to defeat AIM-9L without a flare. Maybe once with an extreme manoeuvre.

Because they are ‘premium jet’ which has significantly more numbers than their normal counterparts.

You can see a lot less Mirage 5F or IIIE compared to A-10A, Su-25K, J-7D or J35XS.

im actually spading the f105 rn. Its not that hard. Just stay away from Su-25s and anything with an Aim-9D/J or safari 2. and against mig 21s just dont go hight altitude so they cant lock on to you with R-3Rs

Yes.

At close range (sub 1km/gun ranges) while maneuvering something like an Aim-9D/G aren’t that much of a threat because of their slow reaction time and lower G overload. The same general principle of missiles being bad at extreme close ranges applies to almost anything that isn’t a Magic-1, R-60/M, Python 3, or a more advanced missile.

In order to pull off a successful close range launch, you’ll need to lead the enemy plane quite a lot, which not all planes can do. Something like the J35 or Harriers can, but others might not be able too.

While at longer ranges, stuff like the R-60s can be outrun quite easily, especially if you do an S turn to bleed the missiles speed while not bleeding your own speed.

Also gaijin seems hesistant to actually balance unique premiums.

It has taken ages to remove XP-50’s air spawn, and doing so led to a lot of people crying they were scammed because they paid for the unfair advantage.

People still cry if their easy-mode TT vehicle receives a balance pass, but it’s less over the top than with premiums.

What missile is fired at you doesn’t matter. if you know what missile it is it gives you the ability to dodge it possibly, aim 9g for example If your an F4C and an AV8C shoots a missile at you you can cut throttle and turn to get the missile off your tail (maybe fire some rockets) if you do it right it gives you a massive advantage when it comes to dodging the missile. However, if your an F105 you best bet is just to gun it away from the missile (while making evasive maneuvers) so that if it burns out its motor the missile will burn off speed due to those maneuvers.

I can outwalk R-60s fired in rear aspect.

Any AIM-9 missile in a bad situation is just instant death, unless they fire it from a bad angle. Magic 1, r60, etc have wide enough seekers I can reliably rocket flare them. AIM-9 is like a 80-20 not in your favor.
Only way I’ve found to reliably defeat them is turning out of rear aspect, which you often do not have time to do, or trying to outrun and bleed it with turns, which doesn’t work well because it’s got decent range. (compared to magic or r60)
